Cummins 25kVA~1875kVA

Cummins 25kVA~1875kVA

Dingbo supplies Cummins diesel generator sets for prime and standby power projects. The current category focuses on Cummins gensets from 25 kVA to 1875 kVA, with additional smaller outputs available in the product list where applicable.

A Cummins generator should not be selected by kVA alone. At the same or similar output, different Cummins engine models may be available, while prime/standby rating, 50Hz or 60Hz, voltage and enclosure type also affect the final generator configuration.

Cummins Generator Model Comparison

The following selected 50Hz models show the main parameters that should be compared before opening the full technical datasheet.

Genset ModelPrime PowerStandby PowerCummins EngineFrequency
DB-25GF25 kW / 31 kVA28 kW / 35 kVA4B3.9-G1250Hz
DB-100GF100 kW / 125 kVA110 kW / 138 kVA6BTA5.9-G250Hz
DB-200GF200 kW / 250 kVA220 kW / 275 kVAMTA11-G2 / NT855-GA / QSNT-G6 options50Hz
DB-800GF800 kW / 1000 kVA880 kW / 1100 kVAKTA38-G5 / QSK38-G1 options50Hz
DB-1200GF1200 kW / 1500 kVA1320 kW / 1650 kVAKTA50-GS850Hz

These are selected comparison points rather than the complete Cummins range. Dingbo's current product data shows that some outputs can be matched with more than one Cummins engine, which is why the engine model should be confirmed together with the electrical output.

60Hz Cummins generator configurations are also available. Confirm the required frequency before fixing the engine model because 50Hz and 60Hz ratings should be checked against their respective technical data.

What to Compare When Selecting a Cummins Generator

Prime Power vs. Standby Power

Check which rating your project specifies before comparing generators.

A 250 kVA prime generator is not the same selection as a generator rated at 250 kVA only for standby operation.

Dingbo product pages show both ratings where applicable. For example, the DB-200GF is listed at 200 kW / 250 kVA prime and 220 kW / 275 kVA standby.

These parameters narrow the suitable Cummins generator models more effectively than requesting only "one 250 kVA generator."

Compare the Exact Cummins Engine Model

The same electrical output does not always correspond to one Cummins engine.

For example, Dingbo currently lists several 200 kW / 250 kVA configurations using MTA11-G2, NT855-GA and QSNT-G6 engines. At 800 kW / 1000 kVA, KTA38-G5 and QSK38-G1 options are listed.

If two models provide the required output, compare:

  • Cummins engine model

  • Prime and standby rating

  • Frequency

  • Overall dimensions

  • Weight

  • Installation space

  • Required accessories

This is more useful than comparing the Cummins brand name alone.

Confirm 50Hz or 60Hz

Dingbo provides both 50Hz and 60Hz technical configurations on current Cummins product pages. Do not assume that the same engine has exactly the same generator output at both frequencies.

For a replacement project, provide the existing generator nameplate if available. Rated output, voltage, frequency and phase can then be checked before selecting the replacement Cummins genset.

Cummins Generator Configuration Options

After the output and engine model are confirmed, the complete generator set can be configured according to the project requirement.

Alternator

Dingbo's Cummins generator configurations can be paired with alternator options including:

If the tender specifies an alternator brand, include it when requesting a quotation.

Controller

Current Dingbo Cummins configurations use SmartGen controllers on applicable standard models, with other control options available according to the required functions.

Controller selection becomes more important when the project requires automatic mains-failure operation, remote monitoring or multi-generator synchronization.

Other Configuration Options

Depending on the selected model and project, available equipment can include:

  • Circuit breaker

  • Starting batteries and charger

  • Base or external fuel tank

  • Engine water heater

  • Alternator anti-condensation heater

  • ATS

  • Parallel control system

  • Remote monitoring

  • Silent enclosure

  • Trailer configuration

These options are already offered across Dingbo's current Cummins generator specifications rather than being part of a fixed package for every model.

Open, Silent, Containerized or Trailer Cummins Generator

Open Type

An open Cummins generator is suitable for a dedicated generator room where ventilation, exhaust discharge and any required acoustic treatment are handled by the site design.

It also provides direct access to the engine, alternator and service points.

Silent Type

Choose a silent configuration when an integrated acoustic and weather-resistant enclosure is required.

When noise limits are specified, compare noise figures at the same measurement distance rather than comparing only the advertised dB value.

Dingbo has a separate range of Silent Diesel Generator Sets for this requirement.

Containerized Type

Containerized generators are more relevant to larger enclosed power packages where weather protection, equipment arrangement and maintenance access need to be incorporated into the enclosure.

Trailer-Mounted Type

For construction, emergency or temporary-power projects where the genset must move between locations, see Trailer-Mounted Generator Sets.

Cummins Generator Applications: What to Check for Your Project

Application matters because two projects requiring the same kVA may need different generator configurations.

Factory and Manufacturing Power

For production lines, pumps, compressors and other motor-driven equipment, provide the normal running load and the largest starting load.

A generator that covers the total running kW may still need further checking if a large motor starts directly or several motors start together.

For an indoor plant room, an open-type Cummins generator may be suitable where ventilation and exhaust systems are already provided.

Commercial Buildings

Commercial buildings commonly use Cummins generators for standby operation.

If the facility needs automatic transfer after a utility outage, the genset can be combined with an Automatic Transfer Switch.

Confirm the building voltage, required standby load and ATS current before finalizing the system.

Hospitals and Critical Facilities

For critical standby power, the generator itself is only part of the system.

Projects may also require automatic transfer, redundancy or multiple generator sets. Where load sharing or redundancy is required, see Dingbo's Synchronous Parallel Generator System.

Construction and Temporary Power

Construction projects should consider:

  • Required operating load

  • Open or silent enclosure

  • Noise restrictions

  • Fuel arrangement

  • Whether the generator must move between sites

Where frequent relocation is required, a Trailer-Mounted Generator may be more practical than a fixed installation.

Mining and Remote Sites

For remote installations, provide site altitude, ambient temperature and expected operating hours together with the required output.

Dingbo's current generator technical documentation includes power-correction data for elevated installation altitudes, showing why site conditions should be confirmed rather than relying only on the nameplate kW.

Data Centers and Large Standby Systems

For data centers and other critical power systems, selection normally extends beyond a single genset rating.

Confirm whether the project requires:

  • Multiple generator sets

  • Redundancy

  • Automatic sequencing

  • Load sharing

  • ATS

  • Remote monitoring

For multi-generator systems, see Synchronous Parallel and Dingbo Cloud Service.

Check Dimensions When Replacing an Existing Genset

For replacement projects, matching the existing kVA does not guarantee that the new Cummins generator will fit the available generator room.

The engine model changes the overall genset dimensions and weight, and a silent enclosure requires substantially more space than an open unit.

Before ordering a replacement generator, check:

  • Maximum available length, width and height

  • Service clearance

  • Cooling-air inlet and outlet

  • Exhaust position

  • Cable entry

  • Fuel connections

  • Door and access dimensions for moving the genset into place

Individual Dingbo product pages provide model-specific dimensions for comparison. For example, the 200 kW Cummins page provides separate reference dimensions for open and silent configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose a Cummins diesel generator only by kVA?

No. Also confirm whether the required output is prime or standby, the frequency and the voltage. Some output ranges are available with more than one Cummins engine model.

Why are there different Cummins engines at the same generator output?

Some power ratings can be matched with different Cummins engine families or models. The final choice should be checked against frequency, engine model, dimensions and project specification rather than kVA alone.

Are 50Hz and 60Hz Cummins generator ratings the same?

Not necessarily. The applicable engine rating and generator data should be checked for the required frequency. Specify 50Hz or 60Hz before confirming the engine model.

Can Dingbo supply a silent Cummins generator?

Yes. Cummins-powered gensets can be supplied in silent configurations for projects requiring an integrated acoustic enclosure. See Silent Diesel Generator Sets.

Can multiple Cummins generators operate in parallel?

Yes. Dingbo provides Synchronous Parallel Systems for projects requiring multiple gensets, load sharing or redundancy.
