When designing the structure of a diesel generator soundproof enclosure, a number of important factors should be considered to ensure the comprehensiveness and practicality of its functions. For example, an acoustic enclosure should be able to house a diesel generator, including the diesel engine, alternator, batteries, circuit breaker, control system and noise reduction components and other relevant parts and accessories. This requires the designers to give due consideration to the rational layout of individual components in order to leave the necessary space for acoustic noise reduction, and to ensure the overall structure is stable and coordinated.
Generally, the silent generator enclosures are designed as a rectangle. This design has strong adaptability and mobility. With superb manufacturing technique, the enclosures are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. In order to save space and reduce length, the ends of the enclosure are sometimes cut at an oblique angle, which can be used as air intake and exhaust outlets. However, this design is easy to inhale or stir up dust on the ground. Meanwhile, it is difficult to discharge hot air to the outside when installed in the building.
Length: The length of a soundproof diesel generator enclosure shall not be less than the total length of the diesel engine, radiator and alternator, plus the length of the noise reduction inlet and exhaust chambers, and the thickness of the sound-absorbing components.
Width: The width of the enclosure should be greater than or equal to the sum of the thickness of the diesel engine, radiator and sound absorbing components.
Height: The height of the generator enclosure should be greater than or equal to the sum of the thickness of diesel engine, radiator, anti-vibration components, exhaust pipe components, radiator inlet space and the sound absorber components.
Since low-noise diesel generator sets are usually in an elongated shape, the length of the control box should be given priority when the conditions of usage are met. At the same time, try to arrange components like the control system, switches, batteries and wiring in other spaces. For some too slender models, appropriately widening the enclosures not only makes it easy to carry, but also makes the operation of the generator more stable, while its appearance becomes more coordinated and beautiful.
When determining the height of a generator enclosure, it is necessary to consider the adding water operation of the radiator and the space for water level inspection. If necessary, the water injection port can be located on the top outside of the enclosure. The high temperature components (up to 600°C) like superchargers and exhaust pipes of some models may be close to the edges of the enclosures, so the enclosure dimension should be designed with sufficient distance to avoid high temperature damage to the sound-absorbing materials or enclosure walls during prolonged operation of the unit. In addition, when the unit is started and stopped, some components vibrate drastically, so the enclosure wall should also be kept enough distance from these components to prevent collision and abnormal sound.
An enclosure should provide quick, easy access to your generator in an emergency. It should offer enough space for technicians to access the machinery for maintenance and repairs. The door for operation is usually set at one end (intake side) or both sides of the generator, located in a relatively low operating ambient temperature area. The door for operation is usually equipped with tempered glass observation window, which is convenient to check the parameters of the unit in real time, and has a certain sound insulation effect.
The design of access door must fully consider the convenience and feasibility of meeting different maintenance and operation needs. Routine generator maintenance and service, such as replacing three types of filters and adjusting frequency and voltage, should be easy to operate. For longer maintenance and service projects, such as replacing batteries and cleaning radiators, it should also be as convenient as possible. It should be able to carry out relevant operations by simply disassembling some components if necessary.
When used outdoors, the enclosure design of the unit must fully consider the needs of dust and adverse weather protection. Intake and exhaust ports generally adopt louver structure. Installing rain eaves on the upper edge of the enclosure can effectively reduce the rain falling on the surface of the enclosure. Adding rubber gaskets to the edges of each door on the enclosure can help prevent rain from seeping into its interior and reduce noise caused by vibration. Drain holes at the bottom of the box help prevent rainwater accumulation.
The design of the diesel generator soundproof enclosure should pay attention to the good manufacture craft in the processing and assembly to improve production efficiency and reduce costs. The enclosure should be robust enough to ensure safety and reliability during lifting and transportation. The materials it uses should be able to reduce the risk of deformation. The design goal of the enclosure is to reduce manufacturing and transportation costs while minimizing the size.
