Generator overheating

1. The generator does not operate according to the regular technical conditions, such as the stator voltage is too high and the iron loss increases; The copper loss of stator windings increases when the load current is too large. The frequency is too low, so that the cooling fan speed is slow, affecting the heat dissipation of the generator; The power factor is too low, so that the rotor excitation current increases, the formation of rotor heating. It is necessary to check whether the indicator of monitoring instrument is normal. If not, necessary adjustment and treatment should be carried out to make the generator operate in accordance with the rule of skill conditions.

2. The three-phase load current of the generator is unbalanced, and the one-phase winding of overload will overheat. If the three phase current difference exceeds the rated current 10%, it is severe three phase current imbalance. Three phase current imbalance will produce negative sequence magnetic field, and then add loss, causing the magnetic pole winding and collar and other parts of the heating. The three-phase load should be adjusted to balance the current of each phase as far as possible.

3. The air duct is blocked by dust, resulting in poor ventilation and generator heat dissipation difficulties. Dust and grease should be eradicated in the air duct to make the air duct unblocked.

4. If the inlet air temperature is too high or the inlet water temperature is too high, the cooler is blocked. The air inlet or water inlet temperature should be lowered to remove the blockage in the cooler. Before the fault is removed, the load of the generator should be restrained to reduce the temperature of the generator.

5. Too much or too little grease is added to bearings. Grease should be added in accordance with the rules, generally 1/2 to 1/3 of the bearing room (upper limit for low speed, lower limit for high speed), and should not exceed 70% of the bearing room.

6. Bearing wear. If the wear is not severe, the bearing part is overheating; If the wear is severe, it is possible to make the stator and rotor conflict, the formation of stator and rotor overheating. Check whether the bearing has noise. If the stator and rotor conflict is found, the bearing should be repaired or replaced.
