The intercooler consists of a shell and an inner core. The internal pipes of the intercooler are often attached with oil sludge, gum and other dirt, which not only narrows the air flow channel, but also weakens the cooling heat exchange capacity, so maintenance and cleaning must be carried out. Generally, the interior of the intercooler shall be cleaned and tested every year or when diesel genset is overhauled and the water tank is welded.

When the diesel generator is rapidly loaded to high speed, some black smoke is discharged from the exhaust pipe. When there is a slight air leakage sound during idle speed operation, attention should be paid to check and repair the source of the air leakage. It is the intercooler inlet hose (supercharger intercooler) that cracked, leading to air leakage. Especially during high-speed operation, a large amount of high-pressure gas from the supercharger leaked from the hose crack, reducing the amount of air entering the cylinder from the chamber, Affects the power output of diesel generator. Causing poor loading at medium to high speeds.

Cleaning plan: add an aqueous solution containing 2% soda ash (the temperature should be 70-80 ℃) into the intercooler, fill it, wait for 15 minutes, and see if there is water seepage in the intercooler. If any, it should be disassembled, inspected, and welded for repair (the same as repairing the water tank); If there is no water seepage, shake it back and forth several times, pour out the washing solution, then fill it with a clean water solution containing 2% pure alkali for flushing until it is relatively clean, and then add clean hot water (80-90 ℃) for cleaning until the discharged water is clean.
