What Should Be Pay Attention to Replacing Antifreeze of Genset

Antifreeze is an important necessary spare parts in the maintenance of generator set. During running of generator set, temperature of diesel engine will increase quickly. When under high temperature, not only affect the improvement of diesel generator working efficiency, but also cause spare parts failure. So, base on this, we need to cool the heat part. This will use antifreeze in the cooling system of diesel engine. So, what are the function of diesel generator antifreeze?

1. Antifreeze. It can ensure that diesel engine can not damage when under very low temperature. Generally speaking, the commonly used antifreeze temperature of coolant, that is, the freezing point is between minus 20 ℃ and 45 ℃, which can be reasonably selected according to the actual needs of different regions.

2. Anti boiling effect. It can ensure that cooling water is not premature boiling. The boiling point of commonly used coolant is 104 to 108 ℃. When the coolant is added to the cooling system and generates pressure, its boiling point will be higher.

3. Antiseptic effect. The special coolant can reduce the corrosion of the cooling system, so as to avoid the problem of water leakage caused by the corrosion of the cooling system.

4. Rust prevention. High quality coolant can avoid the rusting of the cooling system. Once the cooling system is rusted, it will accelerate wear and reduce heat transfer efficiency.

5. Anti scaling effect. Since deionized water is used as the coolant, scaling and sedimentation can be avoided to protect the engine.

When selecting antifreeze, the following points should generally be observed:

1. The freezing point (i.e. freezing point) of diesel generator set shall be selected according to the ambient temperature conditions. Freezing point is an important index of antifreeze. Generally, its freezing point should be about 10 ℃ lower than the minimum temperature in winter under local environmental conditions;

2. Antifreeze shall be selected according to different requirements of different diesel generator sets. For example, permanent antifreeze shall be selected for imported generators and domestic generator sets, and softened water can be replaced in summer;

3. Antifreeze with anti rust, anti-corrosion and descaling ability shall be selected as far as possible.

To use antifreeze correctly, we should pay attention to below points:

1. Check cooling system, it can not be leakage, then fill antifreeze;

2. Remove clearly all cooling water in the cooling system to avoid diluting the prepared coolant with residual water to change the freezing point;

3. Antifreeze has high boiling point, large heat capacity, small evaporation loss and high cooling efficiency. It should be noted that the engine cooling temperature when using antifreeze is about 10 ℃ higher than that when using demineralized water. At this time, it cannot be mistakenly considered as an engine fault, and the water tank cover must not be opened to avoid scalding caused by hot gas flushing;

4. Due to the toxicity of antifreeze, pay attention to avoid contact with human body, especially not into eyes;

5. The replacement of antifreeze must be carried out when the vehicle is cold, and all antifreeze residues in the cooling system must be completely drained, cleaned with clean soft water and filled to the specified liquid level.
