After lubricating and cooling the turbocharger, it returns to the lower part of the crankcase. When the wear of the floating bearing of the generator intensifies, the failure phenomenon of oil leakage of the supercharger will occur. After such a fault occurs, the gap between the bearing and the shaft is too large, the oil film is unstable, the bearing capacity is reduced, the vibration of the rotor shaft system is intensified, and the dynamic balance is damaged. Excessive rotation radius will damage the seals at both ends, and in severe cases may damage the entire supercharger. So what are the reasons for the increased wear of the floating bearing of Perkins diesel generator sets?


1. Dry grinding without oil


The supercharger oil comes from the oil pump of Perkins generator. If the oil pump runs abnormally, the oil supply will be insufficient or the oil pressure will be too low, and the oil inlet pipeline will be deformed, blocked, cracked, etc., resulting in insufficient oil supply, which will be damaged due to poor lubrication. Supercharger bearings and bearings. During the maintenance process, it is often found that some bearings and shafts have obvious dry friction marks, which will burn blue in severe cases. Therefore, the oil inlet pipeline should be checked frequently to eliminate the problem in time.

2. The supercharger oil is not used according to the instructions


After the Perkins generator is pressurized, the thermal load and mechanical load are greatly increased, and the operating temperature is very high, resulting in higher oil temperature, lower viscosity, and lower load-carrying capacity. The speed of the supercharger is nearly 40 times higher than that of the generator, and the temperature of the supercharger bearing is much higher than that of the crankshaft of the generator. Therefore, the turbocharger oil must be used correctly according to the instructions.


3. Poor oil cleanliness


As mentioned earlier, too much impurities in the oil can accelerate bearing and shaft wear. During maintenance, it is often found that the oil in the generator oil pan turns black, thin or even black. If you continue to use this kind of oil, it will undoubtedly make the bearing scrapped due to wear in a short time.


4. The pressure of the turbocharger oil inlet should be greater than 0.2MPa


Ensure proper lubrication of the oil supply and rotating parts such as bearings. In addition, when checking the turbocharger rotor, if the axial clearance is too large, it means that the thrust bearing is too worn, and if the radial clearance is too large, it means that the floating bearing is too worn.
