1. Rated power and standby power of diesel generator.

（1）In our country, the diesel generator set is nominal by the main power, namely continuous power. The power that the generator set can use continuously within 24 hours is called continuous power. In a certain period of time, the standard is that 10% overload can be achieved on the basis of continuous power in one hour every 12 hours. At this time, the genset power is what we usually call power.

（2）In other words, if you buy the Prime 400kw genset, you can run it to 440kw for one hour in 12 hours, and if you buy the standby 400kw genset, if you don't overload it, the genset will always be overloaded (because the actual rated power of the unit is only 360kw), which is very unfavorable to the genset and will shorten its life and cause higher failure rate. This is very unfavorable to the genset, which will shorten the life of the unit and cause a higher failure rate.

2. The application of different power generators.

（1）Standby power is defined as the power of the generator set between the specified maintenance cycle and the specified environmental conditions can run continuously for 300h, more 500 working hours per year. Equivalent to the national standard and ISO standards in the limited time operating power (LTP). It is generally applicable to occasional emergency working conditions with more load variations such as communications and buildings.

（2）Prime power is defined as the power that exists within a variable power sequence that may operate for an unlimited number of hours per year between specified maintenance cycles and under specified environmental conditions, equivalent to the basic power (PRP) in national and ISO standards. Generally applicable to frequent operating conditions with less load changes in factories, mines, military, etc.

（3）Continuous power is defined as the power that exists within a constant power sequence that may operate for an unlimited amount of time each year between specified maintenance cycles and under specified environmental conditions. Equivalent to continuous power (COP) in national and ISO standards. Generally, it is applicable to continuous operation conditions with minimal load change, such as power station or grid connection with municipal power. The power of diesel generator set cannot be compared with that of municipal power, because diesel generator converts mechanical energy of diesel engine into electrical energy, and the diesel engine is attenuated in the process of work.
