1. The function of the thermostat of the diesel generator is to automatically adjust the amount of water entering the radiator according to the temperature of the cooling water, change the water circulation range, so as to adjust the cooling capacity of the cooling system, and ensure that the Cummins generator set works within the appropriate temperature range.

2. The thermostat must be kept in good technical condition, or it will seriously affect the normal operation of Cummins diesel generator set. If the main valve of the thermostat is opened too late, it will cause the generator set to overheat; If the main valve is opened too early, the warm-up time of Cummins diesel generator set will be prolonged and the temperature of diesel generator set will be too low.

3. The function of the thermostat is to prevent the diesel generator set from being overcooled. After the normal operation of the generator set, if there is no thermostat during winter operation, the temperature of the generator set may be too low. At this time, the diesel generator set needs to temporarily stop the water non circulation to ensure that the temperature of the diesel generator set is not too low.

Working principle of thermostat of Cummins diesel generator set

1. When the working temperature of the diesel generator set is low (below 70 ° C), the thermostat automatically closes the path to the radiator and opens the path to the water pump. The cooling water from the water jacket flows directly into the water pump through the hose, and then flows into the water jacket through the water pump for circulation. Since the cooling water does not dissipate through the radiator, the working temperature of the diesel generator set can rise rapidly. This circulation route is called small circulation.

2. When the operating temperature of the diesel generator set is high (above 80 ° C), the thermostat automatically closes the path to the water pump and opens the path to the radiator. The cooling water from the water jacket flows into the water jacket by the water pump after being dissipated by the radiator, which improves the cooling intensity to prevent the Cummins diesel generator set from overheating. This cycle route is called systemic circulation. When the working temperature of Cummins diesel generator set is 70~80 ° C, large and small cycles exist at the same time, that is, part of the cooling water conducts systemic circulation, while the other part of the cooling water conducts small cycle.

Method of replacing thermostat of diesel generator set

1. Disconnect the negative cable of the battery to prevent the Cummins generator set from starting, allow the set to cool down, and then loosen the pressure cap.

2.If the unit is equipped with a cover, open the access door and overhead instrument panel.

3. Remove the two thermostat housing bolts, remove the housing, thermostat, and gasket. The pipe does not need to be removed.

4. Clean the gasket area and install a new thermostat and gasket. Apply three sets of 1215 liquid sealant to the top of the gasket.

5. Replenish the lost coolant, tighten the pressure cap and open the access door, instrument panel, and reconnect the battery cable (finally connect the negative terminal).
