Reasons for insufficient power of diesel generator set.

1. Air filter not clean

Unclean air filters can cause increased resistance, reduced air flow, and decreased inflation efficiency, resulting in insufficient engine power. Clean the diesel air filter core or remove dust from the paper filter element as required, and replace the filter element if necessary.

2. Exhaust pipe blockage

Blocked exhaust pipe will cause blocked exhaust and decrease fuel efficiency. Power decrease. It should be checked whether there is an increase in exhaust resistance due to excessive carbon accumulation in the exhaust pipe. Generally, the exhaust back pressure should not exceed 3.3kPa, and carbon deposits in the exhaust pipe should be regularly cleaned and reduced.

3. The fuel supply advance angle is too large or too small.

If the fuel supply advance angle is too large or too small, it will cause the fuel injection time of the oil pump to be too early or too late (if the injection time is too early, the fuel will not burn fully, if it is too late, white smoke will be emitted, and the fuel will also burn insufficiently), making the combustion process not in the optimal state. At this point, it is necessary to check whether the screws of the fuel injection transmission shaft adapter are loose. If they are loose, the fuel supply advance angle should be adjusted according to the requirements and the screws should be tightened.

4. Piston and cylinder liner strain.

As the piston and cylinder liner are severely strained or worn, and the friction loss increases due to the bonding of piston ring, the mechanical loss of the engine itself increases, the compression ratio decreases, the ignition is difficult or the combustion is insufficient, the lower inflation increases, and the air leakage is serious. At this time, replace the cylinder liner, piston and piston ring.

5. Fuel system malfunction

(1) Air enters or blocks in the fuel filter or pipeline, resulting in blocked oil circuit, insufficient power, and even difficult fire. The air entering the pipeline should be removed, the diesel filter element should be cleaned, and replaced if necessary.

(2) Damaged fuel injection components can cause oil leakage, seizure, or poor atomization, which can easily lead to cylinder shortage and insufficient engine power. It should be cleaned, ground or replaced in a timely manner.

(3) Insufficient fuel supply to the fuel injection pump can also cause insufficient power. It is necessary to promptly inspect, repair, or replace the coupling, and readjust the fuel supply to the fuel injection pump.

6. Cooling and lubrication system malfunction.

Overheating of the diesel engine is caused by the failure of the cooling or lubrication system. In this case, the water temperature and oil temperature will be too high, and cylinder scuffing or piston ring seizure will easily occur. When the exhaust temperature of the diesel engine increases, the cooler and radiator should be checked to remove scale.
