How to Design Diesel Generator Room

1. Site selection of diesel generator room.

 

Taking into account the air intake, exhaust, and smoke exhaust of the diesel generator set, it is best to locate the engine room on the first floor if conditions permit. However, high-rise buildings are expensive, especially the first floor is usually used for external business, which belongs to the golden zone, so the generator room is generally located in the basement. Due to inadequate access to the basement and poor natural ventilation conditions, a series of unfavorable factors have been brought to the design of the computer room, and care must be taken to deal with it in the design. Pay attention to the following points when selecting the location of the computer room:

 

It should not be installed in a room without external walls to create conditions for the hot air ducts and smoke exhaust ducts to be exported outside; try to avoid the main entrance, facade and other parts of the building to avoid smoke and air exhaust affecting them; pay attention; The impact of noise on the environment; it should be close to the substation of the building, which is convenient for wiring, reduces power loss, and facilitates operation and management.

 

2. Ventilation.

 

The ventilation problem of the diesel generator room is a problem that must be solved in the design of the engine room, especially when the engine room is located in the basement, otherwise it will directly affect the operation of the diesel engine generator set. The exhaust air of the unit should generally be arranged with hot air ducts in an organized manner. It is not advisable to let the diesel engine radiator dissipate the heat in the engine room and then be exhausted by the exhaust fan. Sufficient fresh air should be provided in the computer room.

 

When the diesel engine is running, the ventilation volume of the engine room should be equal to or greater than the sum of the fresh air volume required for combustion of the diesel engine and the fresh air volume required to maintain the room temperature. The amount of fresh air required to maintain the combustion of the diesel engine can be obtained from the unit manufacturer. If there is no information, it can be calculated as 0.1m3/min per kilowatt of braking power required.


How to Design Diesel Generator Room

 

The ventilation of the diesel generator room generally adopts hot air ducts for exhaust air, and the air intake is a natural air intake method. The hot air pipe is connected to the diesel engine radiator, and the joint is soft. The hot air pipe should be straight. If you want to turn, the turning radius should be as large as possible and the interior should be smooth. The air outlet should be as close as possible and directly extend directly to the radiator. When there are difficulties outside the tube, it can be set to export in the tube. The air inlet and outlet should be arranged at both ends of the unit separately to avoid short circuit of air flow and affect the heat dissipation effect.

 

In cold areas, attention should be paid to the influence of the air intake and exhaust vents on the temperature of the engine room, so as to prevent the temperature of the engine room from being too low to affect the start of the unit. A damper can be set at the connection between the tuyere and the outdoors, which is usually closed and can be opened automatically when the unit is running.

 

3. smoke exhaust.

 

The function of the smoke exhaust system is to discharge the exhaust gas in the cylinder to the outside. The exhaust system should reduce back pressure as much as possible, because the increase in exhaust gas resistance will result in a decrease in diesel engine output and an increase in temperature rise.There are two commonly used methods of laying smoke exhaust pipes: horizontal overhead laying, which has the advantages of less turning and low resistance, but the disadvantage is that it increases indoor heat dissipation and increases the temperature of the machine room; laying in trenches has the advantage of low indoor heat dissipation, but the disadvantage is The pipe turns more and the resistance is relatively large. Horizontal overhead laying is commonly used in high-rise buildings. The exhaust pipe should be led out separately to minimize the elbow. Smoke exhaust noise is the strongest in the total noise of the unit. A muffler should be installed to reduce the noise.

 

4. the basics of the computer room.

The foundation is mainly used to support the full weight of the diesel generator set and the base. The base is located on the foundation, and the unit is installed on the base. Generally, shock absorption measures are taken on the base. High-speed diesel generator sets are generally used in high-rise buildings. When the generator sets are installed on the floor, that is, they are not at the lowest level, heavy concrete foundations are used to prevent the foundation from being too heavy and increasing the floor load. The load of the generator sets should be provided to the structural professional during the design. . When the unit is located on the ground floor of a building, the concrete foundation shall be set according to the requirements of the unit. The bottom corner screws can be pre-embedded, or they can be installed with an electric drill after the unit arrives.

 

5. the computer room is grounded.

 

There are generally three types of grounding used in diesel generator rooms: working grounding: grounding at the neutral point of the power generator; protective grounding: grounding the normally uncharged metal shell of electrical equipment; anti-static grounding: grounding the equipment and pipelines of the fuel system. All kinds of grounding can share the grounding device with other grounding of high-rise buildings, that is, the joint grounding method is adopted.
