How to Replace the Diesel Generator Set Filter

The function of diesel generator set filter is to filter out harmful impurities and moisture in the fuel system, protect the normal operation of the engine, reduce wear and tear, avoid clogging, and improve the life of the engine. The diesel generator filter generally must be replaced after the running-in period (50 hours), and then every 500 hours or half a year. In this article, let's take a look at the correct replacement steps for the diesel generator filter.

1. Put the generator in "STOP" state;

2. Lay towels, cotton yarn and other oil-absorbing articles under the filter of the diesel generator;

3. Use a belt wrench or chain wrench to turn the diesel filter clockwise. If one wrench cannot turn the filter, two wrenches can be used;

4. Use a belt wrench or chain wrench to loosen the diesel filter, hold the filter with one hand, and slowly unscrew the filter with the other;

5. Fill the new filter with diesel of the same type as the diesel used in the generator, and slowly tighten the new filter counterclockwise by hand;

6. After turning it until it can't be turned by hand, use a belt wrench or a chain wrench to tighten 1/4 to 1/2 turn in the counterclockwise direction. Be careful not to turn too much, in case it is difficult to remove it next time;

7. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the vent screw next to the diesel filter (different generator positions may be different), press the exhaust handle repeatedly by hand until there are no bubbles in the diesel fuel flowing out of the vent, keep the exhaust handle in the compressed state, tighten the vent screw;

8. Clean the diesel oil flowing out of the generator, clean up tools, towels, cotton yarn and other non-generator items;

9. Check again to confirm that there are no other foreign objects on the generator, and all personnel keep a safe distance from the generator;

10. Switch the generator from the "STOP" state to the "STAR" state and start the generator;

11. Run the generator without load for 10 minutes. Check whether there is oil leakage at the inlet of the diesel filter of the generator. If there is oil leakage, tighten it slightly with a belt wrench until no oil leaks (be careful not to over tighten), and check the generator. Whether the working status is normal (the frequency is stable, the voltage is stable and all within the standard range);

12. Explain to the generator user the replacement parts and the working status of the generator after replacement.
