Nowadays, environmental protection is the most concerned issue. If the exhaust gas from diesel generator sets is not purified, it will seriously pollute the surrounding environment where it is used, and the harmful substances in the exhaust gas will seriously affect people's health. As a diesel generator set in the power generation industry, it has also been upgraded to national emission standards.

 

Currently, diesel generator sets use high-pressure common rail and EGR technology, which means exhaust gas recirculation system. It is an exhaust purification device designed for the nitrogen oxide compound NOx, one of the harmful gases in engine exhaust. The high pressure common rail engine with country III emissions is more expensive than the EGR engine with country III emissions. Taking the engine as an example, the price of a national III standard generator is about tens of thousands of dollars higher than the price of the national II standard generator.

 

With the repeated introduction of national environmental protection policies, non road diesel generator sets have also been upgraded from national level 2 emissions to national level 3 emissions. In terms of engine technology, significant improvements in oil have led to lower engine emissions and lower fuel consumption. Some emission standards, such as Cummins power generation gensets and power generation sets, have reached the third national standard, while Ricardo and Perkins have not yet achieved these standards. Here, it is necessary for generator manufacturers to popularize the treatment methods for exhaust emissions from diesel generator sets. The content is as follows:

 

1. Wet water treatment is a relatively simple method. Directly using water to filter the exhaust gas has little effect;

2. Dry type black smoke removal treatment, selecting feasible purification devices according to the emission amount, but only achieving the effect of removing black smoke;

3. Dry type hazardous substance removal treatment filters out harmful substances such as CO, HC, NOx, SO2, etc. from the tail gas to meet national emission standards.

Standby generators can generate polluting exhaust gas when operating under unstable conditions, and if left untreated, their emissions can affect the quality of people's living environment.

 

The standby diesel generator set has a huge exhaust flow rate, high exhaust flow rate, and low exhaust temperature. Transplanting a vehicle diesel engine with a small exhaust volume obviously cannot achieve the desired effect. In practical work scenarios, it is difficult to remove the two main components of PM and NOx from the tail gas of fixed standby diesel generator sets.

The old model uses a wall flow ceramic filter element, which is packaged with a carbon steel or stainless steel housing. The exhaust gas passes through the ceramic filter element, trapping particles in the filter element. The relative back pressure is relatively high, and the genset with improper selection and proportioning suffers from partial power loss. It is difficult to clean up carbon deposits after clogging. In the later stage, it is necessary to replace the filter element or take out the filter element for high-temperature sintering and backflushing. The filter element is vulnerable, and the processing efficiency is between 90% and 95%.
