Points for Attention When Electric Generator Long-time Running

The maintenance of diesel generator set in long-term operation is different from that of ordinary standby unit. So, what is the specific content?

A. Precautions before starting the diesel generator set:

1. Whether there are sundries on the surface and around the unit.

2. Whether the air inlet and exhaust channels of the machine room are comfortable.

3. Check whether the cooling liquid level of the water tank is normal.

4. Whether the air filter indicates normal.

5. Whether the lubricating oil level is within the normal range.

6. Whether the fuel valve of the diesel generator set is opened and whether the fuel has been normally supplied to the generator.

7. Whether the battery cable is connected correctly.

8. Whether the power generation load equipment is ready. When the generator is directly loaded, the air switch must be disconnected before starting.

B. Precautions for long-term operation of diesel generator set in machine room:

1. The long-term operating unit shall be inspected every 6 ~ 8 hours, and the standby unit shall be rechecked after shutdown.

2. Check the valve clearance when the new unit operates for 200 ~ 300 hours; Check the fuel injector.

3. Drain the accumulated water in the oil-water separator every 50 hours of operation of the diesel generator set; Check the electrolytic liquid level of starting battery.

4. Replace the lubricating oil and lubricating oil filter after 50 ~ 600 hours of operation or at least every 12 months. According to the of lubricating oil, the sulfur content of fuel oil and the lubricating oil consumed by the engine, the cycle of lubricating oil replacement of the unit will also be different.

5. After 400 hours of operation, check and adjust the drive belt and replace it if necessary. Check and clean the radiator chip. Drain the sludge in the fuel tank.

6. Replace the oil-water separator every 800 hours of operation; Replace the fuel filter; Check whether the turbocharger leaks; Check the air inlet pipe for leakage; Check and clean the fuel pipe

7. Adjust the valve clearance every 1200 hours of operation of the diesel generator set.

8. Replace the air filter every 2000 hours of operation; Replace the coolant. Clean water tank, radiator chip and water channel.

9. Check the fuel injector after 2400 hours of operation. Check and clean the turbocharger. Comprehensively inspect the engine equipment. For specific units, users should also refer to relevant engine maintenance materials for correct implementation.
