It is important to know that the MTU diesel generator set transformer must maintain normal flow during operation. When the oil level is too high (summer, etc.), it is necessary to immediately replenish the oil when the oil level is too low (winter, etc.) to maintain a normal oil level and ensure the safe operation of the unit. The oil level of MTU diesel generator that is too high or too low will directly affect the normal operation of MTU diesel generator.

 

High oil level: As the oil temperature increases, the oil level is higher than the oil level, so even if the oil level reaches its peak, it may not be visible. The reason for the high oil level is that the abnormal operation of the cooler causes the transformer oil temperature to rise, and the oil rises due to thermal expansion.

If the ambient temperature rises significantly, the oil level will be too high. Due to the abnormal operation of the cooler, if the oil level is too high, check whether the surface of the cooler is blocked by dust, whether the upper and lower valves of the oil pipe are opened, whether the pipes are blocked, whether the fan operates normally, and whether the temperature of the cooling medium is appropriate for the flow rate. If the oil level is too high, drain to the appropriate level. When the oil level is not visible, please determine the correct wire height and arrange it at an appropriate height.

 

Low level: The oil level is significantly lower than the oil level corresponding to the oil temperature at that time. When the oil level is low or invisible, please judge that the oil level is too low. The reason for the low oil level may be oil spillage from MTU generator set.

 

Fault analysis of oil cylinder failure in MTU diesel generator set

 

Regarding the failure of the MTU diesel generator set's oil cylinder to supply oil, if the muffler of the MTU diesel generator set is blocked or the turbocharger fails, the exhaust may not be smooth and may cause high temperatures in the exhaust branch pipe. Immediately remove the upper portion of the turbocharger outlet, inspect the exhaust pipes and mufflers on both sides, and gently move the blades of the turbine by hand. The right turbine operates easily and smoothly. The left turbine has some resistance compared to the right turbine, but it can still rotate freely.

 

Immediately start the MTU diesel generator set, and after idling for more than ten minutes, the temperature of the bronchus and turbocharger is high, but they do not turn red. Since it has an impact on the turbocharger, in order to eliminate the fault, the mixing station was opened to load the MTU diesel generator set. Within 10 minutes, the exhaust branch pipe and the turbocharger again experienced high temperature and redness. After unloading the MTU diesel generator set, the red exhaust branch pipe gradually darkens, indicating that the turbine and muffler work normally, and the red exhaust branch pipe and turbocharger are related to the load size of the MTU diesel generator set.

 

Reinstall the muffler and exhaust pipe, and start the MTU diesel generator set. Carefully observe the exhaust volume of the exhaust pipe. Feel whether the exhaust volume and temperature are the same at both exhaust ports by hand. The results showed that the exhaust temperature and pressure at the right exhaust pipe orifice were lower, and the exhaust volume was also lower, while the exhaust pressure, temperature, and volume at the left exhaust pipe orifice were higher. Based on the exhaust pressure, volume, and temperature of the two exhaust nozzles, it can be inferred that either the electronic governor has failed, or the high-pressure pump has failed, causing insufficient fuel supply, or that individual cylinders or multiple cylinders are not working.
