Introduction To The Controller Used In Automatic Cummins Genset

At present, unmanned microwave communication relay stations, satellite and optical fiber communication relay stations and other special environment diesel power stations built in mountains, wastelands, deserts and alpine dry areas mainly use unmanned fully automatic diesel generator sets. When the utility power is abnormal, the unit can be put into operation automatically. The automatic control panel is generally equipped with the EGT1000 microcomputer controller produced by Canada STATICRAFT, the MEC20 microcomputer controller produced by Canada TTI (THOMSON) or the OMRON series PLC controller produced by Japan SYSMAC. Here is a brief introduction to the EGTIOOO microcomputer controller.

Automated EGT1000 microcomputer controller used in Cummins diesel generator set. The controller can complete automatic control, automatic protection and remote monitoring functions. System operating data and monitoring signals can be sent to the monitoring center through multiple dedicated lines, RS232 interfaces, modems and telephone lines. The control system provides all communication protocols. Users can compile monitoring software by themselves, and set the monitoring parameters on the control screen with the keyboard, or set the monitoring parameters on site or remotely through computer software. The control panel is also equipped with a highly reliable transfer switch, which has electrical and mechanical interlocking devices to ensure reliable conversion between the unit and the mains. The control panel is also equipped with a voltage regulator bypass switch and a load shunt switch.

(1) Input and output

In addition to the standard oil pressure, unit temperature rise and battery voltage output terminals, EGT1000 controller also has 4 user-defined input terminals and 8 user-defined output terminals. Adding a control signal on the input terminal can realize remote start and remote shutdown of the diesel generator set. Each output terminal can output signals such as normal mains power, normal diesel engine operation, diesel engine failure, battery charging circuit failure, and unit DC circuit failure.

(2) Display and alarm

EGT1000 controller can display three-phase mains voltage, unit three-phase output voltage and three-phase load current at the same time. It can also display mains frequency and output voltage frequency of diesel generator set. It can also display diesel engine failure and the cause of the failure, and start battery. Fault conditions such as failure, unit charging circuit failure, excessive or low oil level in the fuel tank, low lubricating oil pressure and excessive temperature rise of the unit, and a fault alarm signal will be issued at the same time.

(3) Instrument

In the control panel, besides EGT1000 can display various parameters, it is also equipped with DC voltmeter, DC ammeter, diesel engine oil pressure gauge and fuel temperature gauge to display various technical parameters.

4) Main features of EGT1000 controller

①Digital display of all parameters and text display of the cause of failure. In the traditional various controllers, there are many indicators and various alarm indications are more complicated. The EGT1000 microcomputer controller has a double-row 40-character liquid product display screen, which can display many technical parameters at the same time and does not require any selection switches. When the diesel generator set fails, the display will also immediately display the cause of the failure in text. Therefore, operation and maintenance personnel can quickly and accurately troubleshoot faults.

②The parameter setting is simple, convenient and accurate. The EGT1000 microcomputer controller adopts menu-style direct input. Various parameters can be directly typed in through the keyboard, and can also be input in a remote computer through the RS232 communication interface. There is no need to use binary or octal codes that are difficult to remember to set various parameters. The limits of the mains voltage being too high or too low and the frequency too high or too low can be set or modified quickly and accurately according to the different requirements of the communication equipment.

③The monitoring is advanced, and the control components move quickly and reliably. Due to the use of advanced microprocessors to monitor the status of the standby power supply, the control components act quickly and reliably, which can ensure that the unit power supply and the mains power supply are switched at the best time. The EGT1000 microcomputer controller can not only monitor the voltage and frequency of the mains and diesel generator sets, but also the phase angle of the two. When the phase difference between the two is close to zero, the load is switched. Therefore, when the load is switched between the mains and the diesel generator set, it is basically not felt.

The EGT1000 controller contains various relays, no external connection is required, the circuit is simple, and the reliability is high. In this system, various measures such as electrical and photoelectric isolation are also adopted, which can effectively avoid the interference of external signals to the control system. In addition, the controller uses multi-channel power supply to ensure long-term uninterrupted operation. The controller also uses a multi-layer password to ensure the safety of the program. Even if it is mis-operated, it will not cause control failure.
