How to Debug Fuel System for Generator Sets

The following is a detailed explanation of the work steps that must be carried out before using the generator set. Factory assembly of all equipment and power testing are complex. Usually, after testing, factory products need to be drained of water and oil from the engine water tank, fuel tank, and oil tank before being delivered to our respected customers.

1. Exhaust and refueling

The engine fuel supply system may create an air trap circuit, which requires exhaust. Similarly, the engine lubrication system may require oiling, and the engine manual contains all detailed information about these procedures and the use of fuel and lubricants.

Note: Once the fuel tank is drained, the fuel supply system must be bled before the engine can run again.

2. Fuel

Generally, the instructions of diesel generator require clean diesel without water and low sulfur content. Generally, fuel that meets the standards of BS.2869: A1 or A2 grade is used, or diesel that meets the standards of GB252, DIN/EN590, ASTMD975-88:1-D, and 2-D is used, and appropriate grades are selected according to the temperature of the workplace.

From the beginning, strict control should be exercised over the use of fuel to ensure its cleanliness. If the project is done well, expensive engine maintenance costs can be avoided. Before the oil in the oil drum is added to the tank, it should be allowed to stand for 24 hours to settle any foreign substances in the drum. The area around the oil outlet hole of the oil barrel needs to be wiped clean with a cloth before opening the oil hole cover. The rubber hose and hand pump device used must be stored in a clean environment.

The moisture in the fuel is also very harmful to the engine, and there are two ways to harm it: firstly, it can cause rust; Secondly, when it is converted into water vapor, it will damage the nozzle and reduce accuracy. In addition, water will continuously condense in the fuel tank, so it is impossible to completely isolate the oil and water. Therefore, an oil water separator needs to be used for oil water separation.

3. Lubricating oil

When the generator set is cold, add lubricating oil to the engine oil pan until the maximum mark on the dipstick is reached. If there are special instructions on the oil tank cover, please follow them.

4.Quality classification of engine oil

In the past, there was no unified classification or complete specification for the quality level of engine oil used in China. Later, CA-CD level standards were developed based on API standards. However, in the product manuals of automobile or engine manufacturers, they generally only recommend the viscosity level of engine oil to be used to users, without specifying the quality level or specification of engine oil to be used, resulting in the misuse of lubricating oil and causing engine failure.

For generator sets, we require users to use a minimum of 15W/40 (5W/40) of CF-4/SG grade oil; It is recommended to use CG-4/SH grade 15W/40 (5W/40), and the best oil is CH-4/SJ grade 15W/40 (5W/40).

Attention: If the use of CD grade 15W-40 or CE grade 15W-40 or below oil causes engine damage, it is not covered by the warranty.
