If the equipment is of high accuracy, the flatness and roughness of the static joint surface can meet the design requirements of the drawings. In the process of storage and transportation, it is not difficult to realize the complete sealing of the static joint surface. However, due to the low equipment precision and technical level of some manufacturers, storage and transportation conditions and management level can not completely guarantee no collision, no scratch.

1) The sealing of dynamic contact surface is mainly the function of oil seal. The quality of oil seal itself directly affects the quality of oil seal. The rubber lip of oil seal should be strictly checked in the installation process, without defects such as incomplete, aging or incision. The key point of oil seal percussion should be near the outer diameter of the skeleton shoulder, the force should be uniform, to ensure the quality of assembly.

2) The matching size of shaft and oil seal will affect the sealing performance of oil seal. If the shaft size is too large, although the sealing performance can be guaranteed, it is easy to cause early wear of the oil seal and greatly shorten the service life.

3) When the diesel engine is running, the high-speed rotating shaft is always in contact with the static oil seal, and the friction and wear speed is closely related to the roughness and hardness of the journal surface and the eccentricity of the oil seal surface on the shaft. Therefore, the roughness and hardness of the journal surface of the installation oil seal should be 1.6 ~ 1.4, HRC4560, and the eccentricity of the sealing surface of the shaft is generally not more than 0.025mm. With the increase of the speed, the eccentricity is allowed to decrease.

4) When installing the oil seal, pay attention to the installation method, otherwise it is easy to cause the dislocation of the center line of the oil seal and the center line of the shaft, or damage the oil seal, resulting in oil leakage. Therefore, when installing the oil seal, try to adjust the seal seat to keep it concentric with the bearing and rotating shaft, which needs to consider the installation tools and methods.
