What are the Causes of Cylinder Shortage of Diesel Generator Set

Diesel generator cylinder shortage operation, in fact, is the diesel engine in the operation process of a cylinder (or two cylinders) does not work, while the other cylinders work basically normal. And how to solve the problem of shortage of cylinders?

1.Causes of cylinder shortage of diesel generator set.

(1)During winter start-up, coupled with prolonged non operation, some generator cylinders did not work due to idle during the first start-up. After a short period of temperature rise, all cylinders gradually returned to normal.

(2) Due to the excessive load, some cylinders have mechanical faults such as piston ring fracture, cylinder pulling or valve sealing is not tight, which makes the cylinder compression pressure fail to meet the requirements, resulting in the cylinder not working.

(3) Due to quality issues with the oil used by the user, the fuel injection nozzle coupling is blocked or stuck, causing the cylinder to not spray oil, so the cylinder does not work.

(4) The plunger and outlet valve of the fuel injection pump are malfunctioning, resulting in incorrect fuel supply timing or insufficient fuel supply to the cylinder, causing it to malfunction.

(5) The electronic control system factors (such as power failure, poor connection of wiring sockets, etc.) cause the fuel injector of a certain cylinder to not inject fuel.

(6) The intake and exhaust valves of a certain cylinder are burned or blocked, causing the cylinder to seal and not function.

2.Hazards of Cylinder Shortage of Diesel Generator Set.

(1)once the diesel generator cylinder shortage operation, will cause the work of diesel generators is unstable, prone to vibration and other problems, in serious cases may cause resonance, which will affect the service life of other parts of the machine.

3. The diesel generator set cylinder shortage elimination method.

(1) If you suspect that the diesel generator valve is not sealed, you can add a little oil in the cylinder and shake a few turns, remove the injector, the cylinder piston shake to the upper stop (from the injector mouth can probe to the piston), with low pressure waterless compressed air tip against the injector mouth, with a listening stick against the intake and exhaust stub, if you hear a sizzle ... ... sound, that is, the valve leakage; if you hear the hoo ...... the sound of atmospheric flow, you can then shake a circle of crankshaft and then listen.

(2) Check whether the plug ring leakage, you can add a little oil from the injector mounting hole to the cylinder and then start, if the work is normal, you can confirm the judgment. If the generator cylinder is still not normal, and exhaust black smoke or exhaust drip phenomenon is serious, accompanied by an increase in the oil level, it means that the generator set of injectors have a fault.

(3)If you open the tank cover to see bubbles in the radiator, or crankcase sound, all indicate that the cylinder gasket burn through.

(4)If the above diagnosis are not solved, should further check whether the cylinder compression ratio is insufficient, whether there are other mechanical problems such as bent connecting rod.
