30kVA Standby Diesel Generator Set Exported to Egypt

Today, we will share the journey of a recent order, a 30kVA open-type standby diesel generator for a UAE-based intermediary, whose end-user is located in Egypt.

In mid-September 2025, we received an inquiry from a UAE client for a 30kVA standby diesel generating set. After several rounds of technical discussions and quotations, we finalized a configuration that balanced performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness:

Engine: Cummins 4B3.9-G2

Alternator: Stamford S0L2-P1

Controller: Deep Sea DSE6120

Accessory: 63A Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) cabinet

The order was officially placed in February 2026, shortly after the Chinese New Year holiday. Unfortunately, this period coincided with a surge in orders at the Stamford alternator factory, which led to extended lead times for many generator orders. Our orders were also included. Despite the delay, we maintained transparent communication with our client throughout the process.

By April 2026, production was successfully completed. Before shipment, we conducted comprehensive testing on both the 30kVA generator set and the ATS cabinet, recording test videos and taking detailed photographs. These were promptly shared with the client for final approval. We are grateful for the client’s trust and patience throughout this process, their confidence in our capabilities made this project a smooth and rewarding collaboration.

A quick note on ATS selection for diesel generator sets

For those unfamiliar with Automatic Transfer Switches, here’s a brief guide on how to select the right ATS for your power generator.

An ATS is a critical component in standby power systems. It continuously monitors the utility power supply and automatically transfers the load to the generator when it detects a power outage or voltage fluctuations. Once utility power is restored, the ATS transfers the load back.

When selecting an ATS, several factors should be considered. First of all, The ATS must be rated for the full connected load current, not just the generator’s output. Secondly, different load types have different starting and running characteristics. The ATS should be able to handle the actual load current. It is also advisable to size the ATS with some headroom to accommodate future load growth.

The final rated current of the ATS should be taken as the larger value between the generator's full-load current and the actual load current, then rounded up to a standard rating (e.g., if the calculated value is 235 A, select a standard ATS of 250 A or 300 A). This value may be equal to or slightly greater than the generator's full-load current. In addition, the ATS must match the system voltage and frequency.
