In March, 2023, Dingbo Power produced a 90kw silent type diesel generator set and exported it to Hawaii. This genset mainly consists of a Perkins engine, an original Stamford alternator and a SmartGen controller, which can provide reliable power with lower operating costs.

This 90kw diesel generator set is equipped with a blue sound attenuated enclosure, which incorporates low profile design and easy access to all major components. The noise level of the generator set is 75dB at 7 meters, which makes it ideal for noise-sensitive environments, such as residential area, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, etc.

The genset has a built-in type automatic transfer switch (ATS) 300A mounted on the diesel generator, which ensures that all machines that require continuous or near-continuous uptime continue operating even if there is a power outage or failure. In addition, this generator set incorporates a 758L sub-base fuel tank that gives the genset the ability to run for extended periods.

How to prolong the lifespan of your diesel generator?

Like other mechanical equipment, diesel generators also require regular maintenance and service during continuous operation. Below are some tips on how to prolong your diesel generator:

Keep the engine well-lubricated

The engine oil of the generator lubricates moving parts, reduces friction, and helps in heat dissipation, which is a critical component that ensures the smooth operation and longevity of the engine. Thus, after turning off the generator, it’s necessary to use the dipstick to check the oil level to ensure that the upper oil has flowed back into the crankcase. Be sure to add oil regularly and change the oil and oil filter regularly according to the instructions in the user's manual. Select engine oil that meets OEM general purpose lubricants standards.

Test and clean the batteries regularly

Diesel generators rely on batteries to start. Generators with low battery power will not be able to provide enough power to meet your needs. Therefore, generator batteries need to be kept charged and well maintained. If your generator is not tested for voltage under load, use a manual battery load tester.

Wipe the batteries with a damp cloth. If corrosion is found near the terminal, you need to clean it. In open lead-acid batteries, check the electrolyte gravity and level of each cell every 200 hours of operation.

Check the coolant level regularly

Check the coolant level regularly and add the coolant to a appropriate location as required by the manufacturer. If you are using a heavy-duty diesel generator, add a balanced mixture of coolant additives, water, and antifreeze.

Clean the outside of the radiator with a soft brush, taking care not to damage the fins of the radiator. Be careful when using low pressure compressed air to avoid damage to the radiator.

Check various systems periodically

Diesel fuel becomes more contaminated over time. To prevent contaminated diesel from causing corrosion and other problems, it is recommended to discharge the fuel filter regularly. Meanwhile, systems such as fuel system and starting system should also be checked regularly. Check the pipes and hoses of the charge air cooler carefully for leaks, cracks, or holes. For leakage problems around the exhaust pipe (generally occurring in gaskets, connection points and welds), it is also necessary to repair in time. It’s also important to keep the diesel generator clean.
