Application Performance Level and Rated Power of Diesel Generator

Diesel generator set is a combination of diesel engine and synchronous alternator. The maximum power allowed by the diesel engine is limited by the mechanical load and thermal load of the parts. 1. Performance level

According to national standards; the performance levels of diesel generator sets are divided into four levels of performance.

（1）. G1 performance requirements apply to connected loads that only need to specify the basic parameters of their voltage and frequency. Mainly used for general purposes, such as lighting and other simple electrical loads.

（2）2. G2 performance requirements apply to loads that have the same requirements for voltage characteristics as those of the public power system. When its load changes, there may be temporary but allowable voltage and frequency deviations. Such as lighting systems, pumps and fans.

（3）G3 performance requirements apply to connected equipment that has strict requirements on frequency, voltage and waveform characteristics. Such as radio communications and loads controlled by thyristor rectifiers.

（4）G4 performance requirements apply to loads that have particularly strict requirements on frequency, voltage and waveform characteristics. Such as data processing equipment or computer systems.

2. Calibration power.

According to the characteristics, purpose and use characteristics of diesel generators, the maximum use limit of effective power determined is called the nominal power of diesel generators. In the current national standards that my country is trying to implement, the calibrated power is divided into the following four types.

15min power.

The maximum power of the diesel engine is allowed to run for 15 minutes. It may be overloaded in a short period of time and require calibration power with acceleration performance. It is suitable for internal combustion engine power calibration for automobiles, ships, tanks and other purposes.

1h power.

The maximum effective power of the diesel engine is allowed to run continuously for 1 hour. It is suitable for the power calibration of internal combustion engines for industrial tractors, construction machinery, diesel locomotives, ships and other purposes.

12h power.

The maximum effective power of a diesel engine that allows continuous operation for 12 hours, that is, the rated power we often say. It is suitable for the power calibration of internal combustion engines for agricultural tractors, construction machinery, agricultural irrigation and drainage, diesel locomotives, inland watercrafts and other purposes.

Continuous power.

The maximum effective power that the diesel engine allows for long-term continuous operation. It is suitable for the calibration of internal combustion engine power for agricultural irrigation, ocean-going ships and power stations.
