Causes And Treatment Of Oil Level Rise In Generator Crankcase

There are two reasons why the oil level of the standby generator is raised instead of adding oil during use. One is that diesel fuel flows into the crankcase of the backup generator to raise the oil level; the other is that cooling water leaks into the crankcase and mixes with the oil. There is a phenomenon of oil-water mixing or oil-oil mixing. If it is not eliminated in time, it will cause serious failure.

1. The reason why the oil level of the crankcase of the standby generator rises

A.The fuel transfer pump is damaged and the fuel leaks to the oil pan.

B. Because the combustion temperature is too low, the unevaporated diesel will flow to the oil pan along the cylinder wall.

C. The injector needle valve is not closed tightly or the needle valve is stuck in the open position, and the fuel flows directly into the cylinder.

D. Leakage inside the high-pressure oil pump.

E. The main reasons for the coolant flowing into the crankcase of standby generator to cause the oil level to rise are the cracks in the cylinder block communicating with the water jacket, and the damage of the sealing ring between the wet cylinder liner and the cylinder block, causing water to leak to the crankcase.

2. Treatment method for the oil level rise of the crankcase of the standby generator

A.First, take out the oil dipstick and drop a few drops of oil on the paper to observe the color of the oil and smell the smell. If the color is milky and there is no other smell, it means that water has entered the crankcase. It should be eliminated according to the water leakage of the cooling system.

B. If the engine oil turns black and smells of diesel oil, the viscosity is obviously too low when checking the viscosity by twisting the oil with your fingers, indicating that the diesel oil has been mixed into the oil. Start the engine and observe whether it is running well. If the exhaust pipe emits black smoke and the speed is abnormal after starting the engine, check whether the nozzle of the fuel injector is closed, whether there is any leakage, and repair it. If the power of the standby generator is insufficient at normal operating temperature, check whether the plunger of the fuel injection pump is leaking diesel oil and replace it. If the engine is running normally, the oil leakage of the oil delivery pump should be disassembled and repaired.

C. For the fault that the diesel oil flows down due to the low temperature during use, and the oil level of the crankcase rises, the bad driving operation habits should be changed, or the engine temperature should be treated as the engine temperature is too low.
