When selecting a diesel generator set for factory use, it is essential to pay attention not only to its performance specifications but also to the key details of installation, operation, and maintenance. Based on industry experience and technical standards, the following are essential considerations compiled by Dingbo Power for the use of diesel generator sets.
A perforated baffle should be installed between the fuel supply and return areas inside the fuel tank. This design not only effectively reduces heat exchange between the diesel fuel and the generator set, preventing excessive fuel temperature rise, but also stabilizes fuel flow and prevents vortex formation. If the fuel return line connections are not tight or are improperly designed, fuel pressure surges can easily occur in the pipeline, potentially leading to long-term issues such as pipe vibration, joint loosening, or even leakage, which may compromise the fuel supply stability of the unit. It is recommended to use professional flexible connections and regularly inspect the pipeline sealing.

Fuel tanks or barrels must be placed in a safe and visible area, away from the diesel generator set body, with a recommended minimum distance of at least 3 meters. The factory should designate a dedicated fuel storage area and install clear fire prevention signage. Smoking or any open flame operations are strictly prohibited around the tank, and adequate firefighting equipment (such as fire extinguishers and sand buckets) must be provided. If the tank is installed indoors, ensure proper ventilation to prevent the accumulation of fuel vapors.
The maximum fuel level must not exceed 2.5 meters above the generator base after tank installation. Excessive fuel level creates high static pressure, increasing the load on the fuel pump and potentially leading to premature pump wear or unstable fuel supply. Additionally, an excessively high fuel level increases return flow resistance, negatively affecting circulation efficiency. It is recommended to adjust the tank height using supports or a base and install a fuel level indicator for real-time monitoring.

Vibration Isolation Foundation Treatment: Due to the significant vibration generated during diesel generator operation, the unit should be installed on a concrete foundation with vibration damping pads to prevent resonance transmission to the building structure.
Ventilation and Heat Dissipation: The operating environment of the generator set must ensure unobstructed air intake and exhaust. Especially for diesel generating sets above 200 kW, dedicated heat dissipation channels should be reserved to prevent performance degradation due to high temperatures.
Regular Test Operation: Even when serving as a backup power source, the generator set should undergo a monthly no-load or light-load operation to verify its starting performance, lubricating oil pressure, and output voltage/frequency.
