Ways to Reduce Noise in Engine Room of Large Diesel Generator Set

When a large diesel generator setis running, it usually produces 95-125dB(A) noise. If the necessary noise reduction measures are not taken, the noise of the generator set will cause serious damage to the surrounding environment. In order to protect and improve environmental quality, noise must be controlled. When a large diesel generator set is running, the noise mainly includes the engine's intake and exhaust noise, combustion noise, connecting rods, pistons, gears and other moving parts during work reciprocating high-speed movement and impact generated by mechanical noise, cooling water exhaust fan airflow noise, etc. 

Noise reduction in the machine room needs to deal with the causes of noise separately, mainly as follows:

1. Air inlet and exhaust noise reduction: the air inlet and exhaust channels of the machine room are respectively made of soundproof walls, and sound-absorbing films are installed in the air inlet and exhaust channels. There is a certain distance in the channel for buffering, so that the intensity of the sound source radiated from the computer room can be reduced.

2. Controlling mechanical noise: lay the sound absorption and sound insulation materials with high sound absorption coefficient on the top and surrounding walls of the machine room, which are mainly used to eliminate indoor reverberation and reduce the sound energy density and reflection intensity in the machine room. In order to prevent noise from radiating outward through the gate, set fire-proof iron gates.

3. Control of exhaust noise: The smoke exhaust system is equipped with a special two-stage silencer on the basis of the original one-stage silencer, which can ensure the effective control of the exhaust noise of the unit. If the length of the exhaust pipe exceeds 10 meters, the pipe diameter must be increased to reduce the exhaust back pressure of the generator set.

The above treatment can improve the noise and back pressure of the generator set. Through the noise reduction treatment, the noise of the generator set in the machine room can meet the requirements of the user outdoors. Since the power of large diesel generator sets will decrease after noise reduction treatment, dummy load operation is required after noise reduction to correct the actual power of diesel generator sets, so as to reduce and avoid accidents and improve the safety factor. At the same time, noise reduction in the computer room generally requires sufficient space in the computer room. If the user cannot provide a computer room with a sufficient area, the noise reduction effect will be greatly affected.
