Under normal circumstances, the main factors affecting the output power of a diesel generator set are: atmospheric pressure, air oxygen content and air temperature. 1. Compared with plain areas, the power of diesel engines used on plateaus has dropped severely;

 

2. Due to the serious power drop, a "big horse-drawn trolley" is needed, which results in high investment costs and a huge volume.

 

Please pay attention to the following situation when using diesel generator sets in plateau environments:

 

1) Due to poor condition in the plateau area, generator set may not run properly in the low air pressure, thin air, the low oxygen, and the low ambient temperature. Especially for naturally aspirated diesel engines, it cannot send out the original specified rated power in case there is no inadequate combustion in engines because of insufficient aspiration. Although the basic structure of the diesel engine of the generator set is the same, the rated power, the displacement of the generator set, and the speed of the generator set are different for each type of diesel engine, so their ability to work on the plateau is different. When the generator set is used on the plateau, the power of the non-supercharged machine is reduced by about 6~10% for every 1000m increase, and the supercharger is about 2~5%. Therefore, when used in the plateau for a long time, the oil supply should be appropriately reduced according to the local altitude.

 

2) The plateau environment is characterized by atmospheric pressure, air density and air oxygen content will continue to decline with the increase in altitude. Combining the above combustion theory, it can be known that due to insufficient diesel combustion of the diesel engine and reduced explosive power, the output power of the diesel engine is reduced, which has the greatest impact on the diesel engine.

 

3) Since diesel engines generally use nominal power at an atmospheric pressure of 100kPa (at an altitude of 100m), when the atmospheric pressure decreases (the altitude increases), the output power will decrease accordingly. When the ambient temperature is constant, the atmospheric pressure drops from 1000hPa (at an altitude of 100m) to 613hPa (at an altitude of 4000m), and the nominal output power of a diesel engine with a supercharger drops by about 35% to 50%.
