Diesel Generator Room Design Standard

1. The diesel generator room should be preferably configured on the top floor and basement of the building. When the basement is more than 3 floors, it is best to set it at the lowest layer, close to the substation. The generator room shall be arranged on the exterior wall of the building, and measures such as ventilation, moisture-proof, smoke exhaust, noise and vibration reduction shall be taken to meet the requirements of environmental protection.

 

2. Ventilation and dust prevention (very important)

These two aspects are contradictory. If the ventilation is good, the dust-proof performance must be properly reduced. If considering dust-proof too much, the ventilation of the generator room will be affected. This requires generator room designers to calculate and coordinate according to the actual situation.


 Diesel Generator Room Design Standard


The calculation of ventilation mainly involves the air inlet system and exhaust system of generator room. It is calculated according to the gas volume required for generator set combustion and the air exchange volume required for generator set heat dissipation. The sum of gas volume and air exchange volume is the ventilation volume of generator room. Of course, this is a change value, which changes with the temperature rise of the room. Generally, the ventilation volume of generator room is calculated according to the temperature rise of the generator room controlled within 5 ℃ - 10 ℃, which is also a relatively high requirement. When the temperature rise of generator room is controlled within 5 ℃ - 10 ℃, the gas volume and ventilation volume are the ventilation volume of generator room at this time. According to the ventilation volume, the size of the air inlet and exhaust outlet can be calculated.

 

Poor dust prevention in the generator set room will also harm the equipment. Under the condition of ensuring the ventilation of generator room and considering the dust prevention effect of generator room, shall install air inlet and exhaust louvers to ensure the air quality and air volume of generator room.

3. There must be enough space around the diesel generator set to facilitate the cooling, operation and maintenance. Generally speaking, no other objects are allowed within 1 ~ 1.5m around and 1.5m ~ 2m above.


4. Protect diesel generator set from rain, sunshine, wind, overheating, frostbite, etc.


5. If generator room is located in a high-rise building, a special room shall be set to put the daily tank and isolated from the diesel generator through a firewall. Try to choose a standard fuel tank with good quality, with good sealing and no oil leakage. The fuel tank is equipped with oil flow outlet, oil flow intlet, oil return outlet and oil level indicator. Shall choose fuel tank volume appropriately according to the fuel used by the diesel generator. Usually, it is 8 hours and 12 hours fuel tank.


6. The generator room shall be located as far away from residential areas as possible to reduce the impact of generator noise and emission on residents.

 The generator room shall be built on an open site as far as possible to facilitate the access, ventilation and heat dissipation of units and accessories. The space of generator room shall fully consider the volume of diesel generator and accessories to ensure sufficient installation space for diesel generator and accessories.

Remark:

The arrangement of cable trench can be determined according to the situation.

Foundation refers to the ground level of the whole machine room. Generally, there are no special requirements, as long as the flatness is enough.


7. Noise reduction( can do it according to the situation)

Noise control is a complex project. Users control it within an acceptable and reasonable range according to their own conditions and requirements and with reference to relevant national specifications.

 

The noise source and frequency spectrum should be analyzed first to control the noise. The noise of the generator set mainly comes from the following aspects: combustion noise, mechanical noise and exhaust noise. Among them, the exhaust noise is the highest point of the noise of the whole machine room. More attention should be paid to the treatment.

 

8. Lighting and fire fighting

The brightness of generator room is not enough, which is not conducive to the staff to overhaul the unit. Even some machine rooms are not equipped with lighting, which makes it impossible to work at night, which seriously affects the maintenance of the equipment. Lighting should also be listed as important contents of standardized machine room.

 

If the noise reduction treatment is carried out in generator room, the sound insulation lighting window must be used for the lighting window to prevent the noise from coming out. If the machine room is ventilated and dustproof, louvers are used for air inlet and exhaust, and the brightness in the machine room is not enough, lighting windows must be added. Lighting lamps must be installed in the machine room and explosion-proof bulbs must be used. Regardless of lighting or lighting, ensure that the machine room has sufficient brightness. In addition, in order to prevent an emergency, the machine room must be equipped with special fire-fighting facilities.


Charger and battery; The charger is intelligent and does not need to be operated by personnel. It is installed near the starting battery; The starting battery shall be sealed maintenance free battery and installed on the battery support.

 

Others: do not stack oil drums, tools and other sundries in the machine room. Pay more attention to cleaning at ordinary times.
