Maintenance of Standby Generators at Different Time Periods

Maintenance contents of standby generator set in different time periods.

A.After every 24 hours of operation, add 2 ~ 5 drops of engine oil to the inlet and exhaust valves through the two oil filling holes on the cylinder head cover, but do not add more, otherwise the valve stem will bond with the guide pipe. Especially at the exhaust valve, add 1 ~ 2 drops of diesel or kerosene according to the time. At the same time, check the lubricating oil (or grease) of the oil cup and supplement it if necessary. Check whether the oil in the fuel injection pump and governor body is within the specified plane. If it is insufficient, it shall be added to the specified amount. Clean the oil stain, water and dust on the surface of diesel engine and auxiliary equipment.

B.Inspection and maintenance contents after every 100 hours of operation:

1. Rotate the central shaft of the oil filter for several revolutions.

2. Replace the oil in the inner cavity of the fuel injection pump until it is marked by the dipstick.

3. Unscrew the drain plug at the lower part of the diesel filter of standby generator set of the water pump to drain the accumulated water or dirt.

4. Check whether the condition of each instrument is normal.

5. Summarize and check the operation records (fill in the faults and troubleshooting in time).

6. The air filter should be cleaned frequently, usually less than 200 hours.

7. When the air filter runs for 300 hours, dismantle the compressor casing and clean the flow channel at the end of the compressor.

8. After running for 1000 ~ 1500 hours in total, the air filter shall remove the intermediate housing and extract the rotor shaft for cleaning.

C.After the diesel engine has worked for 300 hours, the following work must be added in addition to the daily maintenance items.

1. Clean the diesel filter and the clearance oil filter in the fuel inlet pipe of the fuel injector.

2. Change the oil in the oil tank and clean the oil filter.

3. Check the tension of V-belt and adjust it if necessary.

4. Check the clearance of inlet and exhaust valves and injection advance angle, and adjust it if it does not meet the requirements.

5. Clean the air filter, check the filter brown wire without booster, and replace it when it deteriorates.

6. Clean the oil stain and carbon deposit on the turbocharger, compressor impeller, inner cavity of compressor casing, turbine and turbine housing.

7. Clean the precipitates in the cooling water radiator.

D.When the diesel engine works for 1200 hours.

1. Check the working balance of each cylinder. If the conditions are met, adjust the uniformity of the fuel injection volume of each cylinder of the fuel injection pump if necessary.

2. Remove each cylinder head, remove the carbon in the combustion chamber area, and check the wear of inlet and exhaust valves, inflation valve surfaces, valve lock clips, push rod and rocker arm mating surfaces. If they are not qualified, they should be repaired.

3. Check the injection pressure and spray condition of the injector and adjust and repair it if necessary.

4. Check the connection and fastening of oil, water, gas or circuit parts and fasteners.

5. Check the center alignment of the diesel engine and its supporting working engine and adjust it in time.

6. Check whether the connecting rod nut and timing wheel fastening nut are loose. When they are not in conformity, they should be tightened according to the specified tightening torque. After each inspection and adjustment, they must be locked with a new cotter pin. 7. Check the water seal device of the water pump and repair or replace it in time.

7. Open and clean the air distribution disc of the air starter, check the wear of the sealing surface and crosshead of the disc, and apply grease during installation.

8. Check the starting motor gear of the electric starter for wear and its flexible action.

9. Clean the engine oil and fuel system pipeline, remove dirt and blow it clean.

E.When the standby diesel generator of water pump works for 2400 hours.

1. Check the carbon deposit on the top of the piston and clean it if necessary. Check the wear of piston ring, cylinder liner, connecting rod small end bushing and connecting rod bearing bush, and replace them if necessary.

2. Check the sealing condition of the oil outlet valve in the fuel injection pump, and repair or replace it if necessary.

3. Check the working performance of injector needle valve coupling and replace it if necessary.

4. Clean the scale in the cooling system, check the corrosion of the zinc block in the water chamber of the zinc jacket in the water inlet hole of the ship engine body, and replace it if necessary.

5. Adjust the speed regulating spring appropriately according to the operation.

6. Check the clearance between the impeller and the housing in the turbocharger, the burning of the surface of the nozzle ring and the damage of the air seal and oil seal parts, and repair or replace them if necessary.

7. Check the operation of the oil pump and adjust it if necessary.

8. After venting the compressed air in the starting cylinder, unscrew the drain plug at the bottom to drain the water and dirt in the cylinder.
