Chongqing Cummins is the first engine joint venture established by Cummins in China. Cummins New Base now has two assembly lines and a centralized sub assembly line, which are mainly used for the assembly of 19L, 38L and 50L engines. These production lines integrate digitalization, intelligence and automation, and are built according to the standard of Cummins advanced high-power engine production line. After more than a year of trial operation, under the condition of full load operation, they have the ability to produce 15000 engines per year that meet Cummins global quality standards.

At the key stations of each assembly line, Cummins uses robots and automatic equipment to realize automatic assembly. In key areas, Cummins also uses a large number of intelligent manufacturing technologies to achieve a high degree of integration and automation. For example, it uses advanced Cummins MES system, Quality Worx Andon and other systems for information control, uses big data to manage various quality data, shortens feedback time, and improves quality control level, The equipment buffering station and branch line assembly are also used to remove the bottleneck of the production line, improve the production efficiency, and the electrical safety protection level of the whole line has also reached the PDd level, ensuring the safety and health of employees.


One of the key stations of the KV assembly line - connecting rod tightening station, the robot carries two high-precision tightening shafts, synchronously tightens the connecting rod bolts, and monitors the rotating torque of the crankshaft in real time to prevent the crankshaft from sticking during the tightening process. In addition, the torque and angle information of the whole tightening process will be synchronously transmitted to the Quality Worx system in real time for data analysis, so as to ensure that nonconforming products can be identified immediately.


Then there is the automatic installation of the cylinder head robot. In order to ensure the installation and tightening quality of the cylinder head, it effectively identifies the wrong or missing installation of the positioning pin and gasket through the photographic detection technology and realizes the accurate positioning of the cylinder head installation through the automatic capture technology. In addition, the automatic tightening technology and Quality Worx analysis system achieve a new breakthrough in the cylinder head assembly quality.
