About the SmartGen HGM6120 controller

This SmartGen controller, integrating digital, intelligent and network techniques, is used for automatic control and monitoring system of genset. It can carry out functions of automatic start/stop, data measurement, alarm protection and three remote (remote control, remote measure and remote communication). The controller uses LCD display, optional display interface including Chinese, English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Turkey, Polish and French with easy and reliable operation. It can be widely used in all types of automatic control system for its compact structure, simple connections and high reliability.

What maintenance is required for a diesel generator?

Though diesel generators require less maintenance due to their robustness, durability and reliability, it’s necessary to maintain your diesel generator regularly to ensure that it runs smoothly during power outages. Regular generator maintenance can help prevent costly downtime or damage due to malfunction. Therefore, you need to have a proper generator maintenance schedule, whether you use the diesel generator often or not.

Generally, you need to conduct the following inspections for your diesel generator on daily basis:

Check fuel level

Check engine oil level

Check coolant level

Check battery voltage

Check V-belt condition

Check cleanliness of the genset

Check leakage

Check all filter condition

Conduct the following preventive maintenance tasks after every 300-350 hours of cycle or 6 months of use whichever comes first:

Perform regular inspections

Change the lube oil

Change the fuel filter

Change the oil filter

Change the water separator filter

Change the air filter

Radiator cleaning

Inspect the coolant level and replenish it if necessary

Preventive maintenance tips for your diesel generator after every 800-1500 hours of cycle or 3 years which is earlier:

Regular preventive maintenance as mentioned above

Check all electrical terminal and thimbles(lugs)

Check pollution level

After using your diesel generator for 3000-5000 hours, you need to dismantle the genset and service the injector pin, cylinder head and fuel pump. If the running time of your generator is greater than 9000 hours, you need to replace the nozzles and piston bearing and change canopy filter and piston cylinder if required.

Please note that recommended professional service frequencies for a diesel generator will depend on its usage and run time. Depending on the make and model of your generator, the frequency of maintenance may vary. It’s recommended that you follow the maintenance schedule provided by the generator manufacturer to ensure maximum service time for the generator.
