When the main valve of the turbine generator is closed for some reason, the turbine runs without steam. At this point, the generator becomes an electric motor that turns the turbine rotor. The high speed rotation of turbine blade will cause wind wear loss, especially the end blade may cause overheating, resulting in turbine rotor blade damage accident. (It can be understood as turbine blade protection)

 

Operating power :Pop =Krel (P1 +P2)

P1: Small loss of steam turbine in reverse power operation, generally 1%~4% of rated power

P2: Small loss when the generator runs at reverse power, generally P2∞(1-n)Pgn(n: generator efficiency, Pgn: generator rated power)

Krel: Reliability coefficient, range 0.5-0.8.

Generally (0.5%~2%) generator rated power, according to the protection device measured when the main valve closed power value.

To prevent the generator from suddenly disconnecting the main circuit breaker without closing all the main valves under a certain active power, turbo generator may occur overspeed and overspeed accidents. To avoid such accidents, the steam turbine main valve should be closed after certain types of protection (loss of magnetic protection, out of step protection, generator water cut off, main transformer cooler failure, heat engine protection, etc.). Used for non-short circuit faults. After the generator reverse power relay is operated, the auxiliary contact connected with the main valve close will form an "and" door, and the program reverse power protection will be formed after a short time limit, and all stops will occur after the operation.

Generator reverse power protection (electrical trip)

Reverse power protection is a kind of generator relay protection, which is used to protect the turbine generator from abnormal operation when the active power is reversed.

 

The simple principle of reverse power protection is to construct the AC measuring circuit of the power direction relay according to the principle of comparison value, and the AC voltage forming circuit adopts the way of sum and difference connection, so as to get two comparison electricity: sum voltage vector A1 and difference voltage vector A2. When the generator is in normal operation, A2.When the steam turbine valve is suddenly closed, the active power of the generator is absorbed by the system and the action is greater than the braking amount. When A2>A1, relay action, after a certain delay, generator cut. Reverse power protection is also available for program trip starter elements.
