Connection and Maintenance Method of Storage Battery for Diesel Generating Set

It is well known that diesel generators are equipped with batteries. The batteries are used to start diesel generator, also known as starting batteries, and are one of the important components of diesel generator. Therefore, when using the diesel generating set, it is important for us to understand the battery connection of the diesel generator and how to maintain the battery. Battery connection of diesel generator

1. Remove the sealing adhesive from the battery liquid injection hole. If there are air holes on the exhaust plug, penetrate the holes. If there is sealing paper on or under the plug, also remove the sealing paper.

2. Inject electrolyte with a density of 1.25 specific gravity in summer and 1.27 specific gravity in winter, and tighten the exhaust plug. The electrolyte shall be mixed with pure water (tap water and well water are prohibited) with sulfuric acid or reagent sulfuric acid specially used for batteries, and shall be used after being cooled for 48 hours base note.

3. The electrolyte should be kept 10-15mm below the mouth.

4. After injecting electrolyte and letting it stand for 30 minutes, the battery can be installed in a generator set for use. In winter, it can be charged with a dual 1A current for 15 to 30 minutes per piece.

5. Both ends of the positive and negative poles of the battery are respectively connected with the positive and negative connecting wires of the starting motor of the diesel generator set. Reverse connection is strictly prohibited, otherwise it may damage the electrical equipment of the generator.

When the diesel generator set starts, the battery is required to supply low voltage and high current (200~600A) to the starting motor in a short time, so the battery is one of the important factors affecting the operation of the diesel generator set. So how do we maintain the battery of the diesel generator set?

1. When using the battery, it should be installed firmly and the wiring clip should have good contact with the battery terminal. Apply a layer of butter on the surface of the terminal to avoid oxidation.

2. If the battery is used for a long time, distilled water should be added to the inside of the battery in a timely manner to prevent oxidation of the exposed liquid surface of the electrode plate, which may affect the battery capacity.

3. The starting time of a diesel engine is not allowed to exceed 10 seconds, and the interval between the second start should generally be controlled at least 2 minutes. Avoid prolonged continuous discharge of the battery, which may cause thermal deformation of the electrode plate, causing short circuits or material detachment, and reducing the capacity of the battery.

4. Keep the surface of the battery clean. When there is acid, wipe it with distilled or purified water in a timely manner.

5. Check the exhaust hole on the sealing cover and ensure that it remains unobstructed at all times to prevent blockage that may cause the battery to burst.

6. When the diesel generator does not work for a long time, the diesel engine shall be started regularly to charge the battery or a special charger shall be used to charge the battery.

7. Check the density of the electrolyte. Insert the rubber tube of the density meter into the battery and suck in the electrolyte. When the density meter is just about to float and the upper end is not supported, the scale aligned with the liquid level on the density meter is the density of the electrolyte.
