1.Selection of common diesel generator sets.

The commonly used generator sets have a long duration of continuous operation and significant changes in load curves. The selection of genset capacity, number of gensets, type, and control methods are different from emergency gensets.

2. Selection of standby diesel generator set.

After a mains power outage, the emergency generator set supplies power to the load. When the calculated load after multiplying the sum of load capacity by the demand factor is greater than the capacity of a single emergency diesel generator set, two automatic generator sets with the same model, capacity, voltage regulation and speed regulation characteristics can be selected. After a power outage in the city, one or two gensets provide power to domestic and commercial electricity; When there is a power outage and a fire occurs again, two gensets supply power to the firefighting load to facilitate firefighting.

3. Selection of emergency diesel generator.

Generally, the emergency diesel generator should be high-speed, supercharged, low fuel consumption, and of the same capacity. The high-speed turbocharged diesel engine has a large single unit capacity and occupies little space; The diesel engine is equipped with electronic or hydraulic speed regulation devices, which have good speed regulation performance; Generators should choose synchronous motors equipped with brushless excitation or phase compound excitation devices, which are more reliable, have a low failure rate, and are more convenient for maintenance and repair; When the capacity of a single air conditioner or motor is large in the first level load, it is advisable to choose a generator set with third harmonic excitation; The machine is assembled on a shared chassis with shock absorbers; A muffler should be installed at the outlet of the smoke exhaust pipe to reduce the impact of noise on the surrounding environment.

4. Selection of unit startup method.

There are three starting methods for diesel engines: (1) manual starting; (2) Electric starting; (3) Start with compressed air. Electric starting should be used in high-rise buildings to avoid using compressed air starting. Diesel generator set with self starting device must be selected for Class I high-rise buildings. Once the power supply of the city network is interrupted, it must be powered within 15 seconds (30 seconds is required by the high specification). When conditions permit in Class II high-rise buildings, it is also advisable to use gensets with self starting devices. If there are difficulties, manual starting devices can also be used.
