Operation and Shutdown of Silent Diesel Generator

The start-up, operation and shutdown process of silent generator seems simple, but there are many details worthy of attention. The use of silent generator seems to be a simple problem, but it should be responsible for every link. 

1. Before starting

1) Please check the lubricating oil level, cooling liquid level and fuel oil quantity first.

2) Check whether the pipelines and joints of the oil supply, lubrication, cooling and other systems of the silent generator have water leakage and oil leakage; Whether the electric steam line has potential leakage hazards such as skin damage; Whether the electrical lines such as grounding wire are loose, and whether the connection between the unit and the foundation is firm.

3) When the ambient temperature is lower than zero, a certain proportion of antifreeze must be added to the radiator (refer to the attached data of diesel engine for specific requirements).

4) When silent generator is started for the first time or restarted after being stopped for a long time, the air in the fuel system shall be exhausted by hand pump first.

2. Start

1) After closing the fuse in the control box, press the start button for 3-5 seconds. If the start is unsuccessful, wait for 20 seconds.

2) Try again. If the start fails for many times, stop the start, and start again after eliminating the fault factors such as battery voltage or oil circuit.

3) Observe the oil pressure when starting the silent generator. If the oil pressure is not displayed or very low, stop the machine immediately for inspection.

3. In operation

1) After the unit is started, check the parameters of the control box module: oil pressure, water temperature, voltage, frequency, etc.

2) Generally, the speed of the unit directly reaches 1500r / min after starting. For the unit with idle speed requirements, the idling time is generally 3-5 minutes. The idling time should not be too long, otherwise the relevant components of the generator may be burned.

3) Check the leakage of oil, water and gas circuits of the unit for oil, water and air leakage.

4) Pay attention to the connection and fastening of the silent generator, and check for looseness and violent vibration.

5) Observe whether various protection and monitoring devices of the unit are normal.

6) When the speed reaches the rated speed and all parameters of no-load operation are stable, switch on to supply power to the load.

7) Check and confirm that all parameters of the control panel are within the allowable range, and check the vibration of the unit again for three leaks and other faults.

8) A specially assigned person shall be on duty when the silent generator is running, and overload is strictly prohibited.

4. Normal shutdown

The mute generator must be switched off before shutdown. Generally, the load unloading unit needs to operate for 3-5 minutes before shutdown.

5. Emergency stop

1) In case of abnormal operation of silent generator, it must be shut down immediately.

2) During emergency shutdown, press the emergency stop button or quickly push the fuel injection pump shutdown control handle to the parking position.

6. Maintenance matters

1) The replacement time of diesel filter element is every 300 hours; The replacement time of air filter element is every 400 hours; The first replacement time of the oil filter element is 50 hours, and then 250 hours.

2) The first oil change time is 50 hours, and the normal oil change time is every 2500 hours.

The precautions for the use of silent generator is a systematic project. The staff should not take it lightly, but should unremittingly pay attention to the nuances of each link, and conduct regular inspection to ensure the safe operation of generator set.
