Preparation Before Low Temperature Startup of Diesel Generator Set

With the change of seasons, many regions begin to enter the low temperature mode. We know that the working conditions of the diesel generator set have certain regulations. According to relevant regulations, the environmental conditions for the rated power output of the diesel generator set should be one of the following two regulations:

1. The altitude is 0m, the ambient temperature is 20°C, and the air relative humidity is 60%.

2. Altitude: 1000m, ambient temperature: 40°C, air relative humidity: 60%.

Due to our vast territory, the temperature in many areas is very low in the current season, even lower than the specified minimum ambient temperature for starting. At this time, the user should take corresponding low temperature starting auxiliary measures according to the actual ambient temperature, and then follow the normal starting steps. Before starting diesel generator set, Dingbo Power reminds you to make preparations for starting as follows:

1. Check whether all parts of the diesel generator are normal, whether all accessories are connected reliably, and eliminate abnormal phenomena.

2. Check whether the electric starting system circuit wiring is correct. Check whether the battery is fully charged.

3. Fill the oil pan with oil to the specified oil level.

4. Fill the cooling system with coolant, and connect the water source for the open circulating cooling system.

5. Fill the fuel injection pump and governor with oil to the specified oil level.

6. For those equipped with grease fittings, the specified grease shall be injected into the fittings.

7. Use the hand pump on the fuel transfer pump to inject fuel into the fuel system, and unscrew the bleed screw on the fuel injection pump, or unscrew the bleed screw on the fuel filter to drain the fuel from the fuel system.

Until there is no bubble in the fuel constantly flowing out of the air bleeding place, and then tighten the air bleeding screw. Then continue to pump oil until there is oil return in the oil return pipe, and tighten the hand pump.

8. Loosen the high pressure fuel pipe connector nuts on the fuel injectors of each cylinder in turn, place the speed regulating handle at the operating position of the diesel engine, and turn the diesel engine to exhaust the air in each high pressure fuel pipe.

9. For the diesel generator equipped with pre lubricating oil pump, the pre lubricating oil pump shall be started first, and each operation shall not exceed 30s. If one operation fails to meet the requirements, stop for 30s before starting.

After the above preparations are completed, the user can take the following low temperature starting measures to ensure that the unit can start smoothly.

1. Preheat the engine oil and coolant of diesel generator to 60°C~80°C.

2. Install a device to preheat the intake air in the intake pipe or use a simple ignition method to heat the intake air at the intake pipe mouth (pay attention to safety when using this method).

3. Increase the ambient temperature of the machine room.

4. Diesel oil, engine oil and coolant suitable for low temperature shall be selected.

5. Thermal insulation measures shall be taken for the storage battery, or extra capacity or special low-temperature storage battery shall be used.

Different climatic environments have different starting requirements for diesel generator. When the diesel generator set is in a special environment, the user should strictly comply with the relevant requirements of the special environment to start the unit, otherwise it is very likely that the unit cannot be started or cannot work normally after starting.
