Fault code 1664- Missing catalyst status present

1. Circuit principle

The catalytic converter of generator post-treatment control system is monitored by inlet and outlet temperature sensors located in the generator post-treatment system. The inlet temperature sensor is located before the catalytic converter, while the outlet temperature sensor is located at the outlet of the catalytic converter system.


2. Component installation position

The catalytic converter of generator is installed in the exhaust system, and the specific location may vary depending on the OEM.


3. Fault indicator light

Yellow.


4. Fault cause

There is no post-treatment catalyst in the exhaust system.


5. Fault results

Stop injecting catalyst solution into the reprocessing system


6. Maintenance tips

Wen the inlet and outlet temperature sensors fail to detect the presence of the catalyst in the aftertreatment system, this fault code is recorded as active. The cause of the malfunction is that during the repair of the catalytic converter system, the catalytic converter may be removed from the vehicle or fail. The catalytic converter temperature sensor must read the ambient temperature and the engine must be shut down for 8 hours before running diagnostics. If the catalytic converter temperature is above 100 ° F (38 ° C), or if the catalytic converter temperature sensor has a difference of more than 10 ° F or 5.5 ° C, diagnosis will not be possible.

The possible causes of the malfunction are:

1) Incorrect calibration correction on the INCAL CD.

2) Disturb the catalytic converter system, remove the catalytic converter from the vehicle or the faulty catalytic converter.


On board diagnostic system (OBD) information:

1) After two consecutive ignition cycles of running diagnostics and detecting a malfunction, the ECM will activate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).

2) After three consecutive ignition cycles of running diagnostics without detecting a fault, the ECM turns off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). You can also use service software to turn off the malfunction indicator light (MIL) and clear fault codes.

3) After 40 consecutive driving cycles of running diagnosis and passing, the fault code will be cleared from memory.


7. Maintenance steps

(1) Check for the presence of catalytic converters

1) Turn off the keyswitch.

2) Check if there is a catalyst in the aftertreatment system. If not, install a suitable type of catalyst.


(2) Check the post-processing system

1) Turn off the key switch and remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust system.

2) Check the catalytic converter for cracks or contamination, and if so, replace it with a suitable type of catalytic converter.


(3) Check and repair results

1) Connect all components, close the key switch, and connect the service software.

2) Enable INSITET service software data monitoring/recorder, compare the catalyst inlet temperature reading and catalyst outlet temperature reading of the service software. It is correct to specify that the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the catalytic converter should be within 5.5 ℃ at ambient temperature and after 8 hours of immersion.

(4) Clear fault codes using service software to clear current and non current fault codes.
