For generator set operators, it is a good habit to check whether the oil volume is sufficient before starting the diesel generator set every day, because in the daily use process, the oil will have a normal loss, sometimes even oil leakage. If the oil consumption or leakage of the diesel generator set causes too little oil volume, what impact will it have on the diesel generator set?

Once the engine oil of 1000kVA diesel generator set is too little, the oil pressure will drop, and the engine oil will not reach all surfaces to be lubricated. The unit may still be able to run in a short time, but then it is likely to hear the clattering of valves and the clattering of sliding shoes, which is a sound caused by increased wear between the main shaft and connecting rod pads due to lack of lubrication, leading to excessive clearance.

Another situation is that the unit will produce blue smoke from the smoke exhaust pipe. It is because the cylinder barrel and piston ring are lack of lubrication, and the appearance of gas engine oil is formed due to increased wear. It may also lead to axle seizure, locking of connecting rod and crankshaft, sudden flameout and other dangerous situations. In addition, the high temperature of the diesel generator will cause wear to the overall diesel generator, such as the gas distribution device, main shaft connecting rod, piston cylinder barrel, timing mechanism, etc., which may damage some parts or directly scrap the diesel generator.

Some users may think that since too little oil will cause so much harm, why don't I add more at one time? This is very wrong. The engine oil should not be too little, but it should not be too much. What is the harm of adding too much engine oil to the diesel generator set?

1. High oil level is easy to generate oil and gas when the big end of the connecting rod is agitated, which will ignite and burn at high temperature, causing crankcase explosion.

2. It is easy to leak at the front and rear ends of the crankshaft, increase oil consumption, pollute the environment, and increase maintenance difficulty.

3. When the generator is working, it is stirred at the crankshaft to make the engine oil foam and deteriorate, increasing the crankshaft rotation resistance. If the oil level is too high, it will also hinder the movement of the connecting rod, reducing the mechanical efficiency.

4. As the engine oil moves up to the combustion chamber to increase combustion, the engine oil consumption will increase accordingly. After oil combustion, it is easy to form carbon deposits at the piston ring, valve seat at the top of the piston and fuel injection nozzle, resulting in seizure of the piston ring, blockage of the fuel injection nozzle and other failures.
