In March, 2024, Dingbo Power produced a 100KW Cummins silent diesel generator set for a client from French Polynesia. The product was tested, debugged and certified before it left the production facility. We delivered the generator set to the client on schedule. Thanks for his trust and support.

When should you replace your diesel fuel filter?

A fuel filter in a diesel engine is designed to stop fuel impurities from getting into the engine or parts of the fuel system where they can cause problems. There are a variety of factors that affect when your filter needs to be changed, such as the effort of your machine. For heavy-duty applications, more fuel is being used, so the filter is working harder. For light usage, less fuel is required, and the filter will last longer. The replacement cycle also depends on the quality of the diesel. If the diesel quality is poor, the replacement cycle needs to be shortened. Generally, a fuel filter is designed to last on average of about 500 hours of the diesel generator being operational. The replacement period of the engine fuel filter element is 250 hours for the first operation, and then 500 hours for each operation after that.

When should you change your diesel generator air filter?

Air filter is mainly used to filter impurities in the air, to ensure that the air entering the cylinder is clean and to meet the requirements of the air intake of each cylinder of the engine. Blocked air filters mean a restricted airflow which reduces the engine power and increases the fuel consumption leading to a build-up of carbon deposits on overhaul components. Similar a fuel filter, the air filter will last around 500 hours of use, and can be changed by most people provided that safety precautions are heeded.

How often should you change diesel generator engine oil and oil filters?

Oil filter plays a central role in providing clean supply of oil to different parts of the engine for smooth running, and reducing the effects of wear and tear. It reduces friction so that metal components may press against each other without damaging the components. Typically, it’s recommended that oil filter should be replaced once after working for 200 hours in the diesel generator set. If your generator is brand new, you may need to change the oil after the first 25 hours of usage, known as the break-in period. After that, change the oil after every 100-200 hours of use. Generally, large diesel generators may require oil changes every 500 hours.

The frequency of your generator oil & oil filter changes will depend on the type of generator, usage, and manufacturer guidelines. You should check your owner’s manual to determine the specific number of hours before your first oil change.
