General Fault Inspection in 480KW Super Quiet Generator

Today Dingbo Power mainly talks about some general fault inspection in 480kw super quoiet generator. Of course, this inspection methods also are suitable other power capacities of diesel generators. 

1. Below faults under not considering control panel factor.

A. Difficult to start:

Use wrong grade oil and diesel fuel; there is no diesel fuel in fuel tank; diesel fuel blockage; air in diesel fuel system; the temperature is too low.

B. Unstable working after start up:

Check quality of diesel fuel; check the fuel injection nozzle and spray atomization; check the valve clearance;check if there is air leakage in fuel pipe and if the governor is damaged.

C.White smoke from exhaust pipe:

Water entered the cylinder liner; incorrect injection time.

D.Blue smoke from exhaust pipe:

Check the oil level; The oil passed through the piston rings(usually caused by low load); cylinder liner was damaged; piston ring was worn.

E. Black smoke from exhaust pipe.

Overload; air filter blockage; too high air intake temperature; poor diesel fuel quality or there is water in fuel.

F. The oil pressure is too low:

Engine oil was used for too long time; the oil filter was blocked.

G. The oil pressure is too high:

the oil was too thick;if the oil circuit was blocked.

H. The temperature of diesel engine is too high:

Overload; insufficient cooling water;insufficient oil; fan belt slipping; too much scale in water jacket and water tank; the water tank is blocked; poor heat dissipation conditions in the machine room; the water pump is damaged.

I.Insufficient engine power:

Insufficient fuel supply; diesel filter blocked;dirty fuel injector; differential compression; air intake is blocked; smoke exhaust is blocked; low injection pressure and poor atomization; inaccurate injection time; improper valve clearance.

2.Common minor electrical faults and maintenance.

A.The generator set cannot be started:

The start switch in the start gear; whether the power fuse is burnt out; whether the starting relay is broken or the wiring is wrong; whether the throttle solenoid valve is on; whether the battery voltage is too low or the connecting wire is in poor contact; whether the emergency stop button is reset; whether the fault alarm is eliminated.

B. when the generator set is running, the battery cannot be charged:

Whether the excitation coil of the charger receives the excitation voltage; whether the rectifier diode of the charger is broken; charger main coil open circuit; the motor unit cannot start automatically without mains; the start switch is not in automatic state; whether Ti \ TX safe is broken; the PCB board of Ti \ TX cabinet is damaged; other reasons are the same as above.

C.When the mains power is restored, the generator does not stop:

Mains power sensor is broken; whether the mains voltage is within the normal range.
