Cummins Generator PT Fuel System VS Traditional Fuel System

Compared with the traditional plunger fuel system, the PT fuel system of Cummins generator has the following advantages. 


①In the plunger pump fuel system, the high pressure of diesel, timing injection and fuel volume regulation are all carried out in the fuel injection pump; In the Cummins PT fuel system, only the fuel volume adjustment is carried out in the Cummins PT pump, while the high-pressure and timing injection of diesel is completed by the PT injector and its driving mechanism. There is no need to adjust the injection timing when installing the PT pump.

②Cummins PT pump works under low pressure, and its outlet pressure is about 0.8 ~ 1.2MPa. The high-pressure oil pipe is cancelled, and there are no various faults caused by the pressure fluctuation of the high-pressure system of the plunger pump. In this way, the PT fuel system can achieve high injection pressure and improve the quality and speed of the spray. In addition, the disadvantages of high-pressure oil leakage are basically avoided.

③In the plunger pump fuel system, almost all the diesel sent from the fuel injection pump to the fuel injector in the form of high pressure is injected, and only a small amount of diesel leaks from the fuel injector; In the PT fuel supply system, the diesel injected from the PT injector only accounts for about 20% of the fuel supply of the PT pump, and most (about 80%) of the diesel flows back through the PT injector. This part of diesel can cool and lubricate the PT injector and take away the bubbles that may exist in the oil circuit. The returned fuel can also directly bring the heat in the fuel injector back to the float tank, which can heat the fuel in the tank when the temperature is relatively low.

④Since the governor and oil supply of the pump are regulated by oil pressure, the oil leakage can be automatically compensated by reducing the bypass oil to a certain extent, so that the oil supply of PT pump will not decrease, so as to reduce the number of maintenance.

⑤In the PT fuel system, the fuel supply of all PT injectors is completed by one PT pump, and the PT injectors can be replaced separately. Therefore, it is not necessary to adjust the fuel supply uniformity on the test bench like the plunger pump.

⑥PT fuel system has compact structure and simple pipeline layout. In the whole system, there is only one pair of precision couple in the injector, and the number of precision couple is greatly reduced compared with the plunger pump fuel system. This advantage is more obvious in diesel engines with more cylinders.

⑦135 series diesel engine can adjust the valve clearance after determining the starting point of expansion stroke.

⑧When adjusting the valve clearance, loosen the lock nut and adjusting screw on the rocker arm with a wrench and screwdriver, insert a thickness gauge (also known as a micrometer) between the rocker arm and the valve according to the specified clearance value, and then screw the adjusting screw for adjustment. When the rocker arm and valve are in contact with the thickness gauge, but the thickness gauge can still be moved, tighten the nut, and finally move the thickness gauge again for inspection.
