​Fault Analysis of Generator Set Used in Oil Field

The safety and reliability of power supply directly affect the safety, stability, quality and efficiency of drilling production. When the generator breaks down, it is the key to ensure the safe operation of the generator set and prolong the service life of the generator set to analyze in time, find out the root cause of the fault, and carry out correct maintenance and repair. At the same time, repairing the generator set on site and providing power guarantee for the drilling equipment in time are also necessary conditions for the normal operation of drilling production. Therefore, it is of great significance to master the correct use, maintenance and repair methods of the generator set.

Generator with load voltage instability

(1) If the voltage drop is too large and the current is unstable, one of the reasons may be that the rotating rectifier diode is damaged. Use a multimeter to detect, and the diode should be connected in the forward direction and cut off in the reverse direction. Otherwise, it indicates that it is damaged and replaced.

(2) If the voltage drop is too large, another reason is that the difference adjustment device composed of T4, T5 and R2 should be less than 1% when the generator is running, otherwise, the on load voltage drop will be too large. At this time, R2 can be adjusted down so that T4 and T5 secondary sides can be short circuited.

(3) The no-load voltage meets the requirements, but after the unit is loaded with rated load at rated speed, the load voltage is too low. Adjust the current transformer tap (with 2U, 2V, 2W marks) on the secondary side of T6 transformer to the position with small tap.

(4) When the generator is running, if the voltage fluctuation is large and the dynamic response is poor, the VR and TN potentiometers on the AVR can be adjusted. The magnification of the regulator is controlled by the VR potentiometer, and the integral action and dynamic response characteristics are adjusted by the TN potentiometer. If the VR knob is rotated in the decreasing direction and the TN is rotated in the increasing direction, the regulating circuit will tend to be stable and the intensity of the regulating action will be weakened.

(5) When there is load, the excitation current is too large, the voltage is unstable, and the voltage drop is large. It may be that the speed is too low, so the speed should reach the rated value.

Generator does not generate electricity

(1) The generator loses excitation and there is no residual magnetism on the iron core. When F1 (+) and F2 (-) are added with a DC 6V or 12V power supply, the generator can be magnetized. The specific magnetization method is: make the unit rotate at the rated speed of 1500 rpm, touch the exciting wire F1 and F2 with the DC low-voltage power line, and the voltage will be established.

(2) If the static rectifier module V1 is damaged and has no DC output, replace the static rectifier module.

(3) It is also important to check whether the connecting wire between the rectifier module and the exciter stator winding is loose. Reconnect or weld the wire ends Break wire end.
